| Description: |
 |
Based in Meursault Patrick Javillier is one of the top three wine makers in the village. He owns a little Corton-Charlemagne and a minuscule plot of Meursault Charmes, but otherwise the estate consists entirely of 'village' vineyards. However, a village wine from Javillier usually outshines a Premier Cru from most of his neighbours. These are classic Meursaults, and his Bourgogne blancs are very serious, mineral-driven wines. Domaine Jean-Michel Stephan Cote-Rotie
Description: Jean-Michel is a rising star in Cote-Rotie. He is slowly but surely building his array of vineyard sites by keeping his ear to the ground and renting quality sites when they become available. His family do own some useful sites, but his grandfather and father turned them over to apricot production after the war, when apricots fetched a better price than Cote-Rotie! These are very finely crafted, very natural wines. He uses around 5% viognier in the blend. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Tollot-Beaut Blanc Bourgogne
Description: Tollot-Beaut were among the group of pioneering Burgundians who started producing and bottling their own wines in the early part of the 20th Century. As rich in tradition as this Domaine is, under Nathalie Tollot, no-one rests on their laurels and a premium is placed on quality. Money is spent on new oak every year to ensure a good stock of healthy barrels which provide the perfect resting place for their magnificent wines. However, it is the vineyard where most of the investment goes on. They employ twice as many people per hectare than any of their neighbours to restrict the vigour of the vines and therefore increase the chances of ripe concentrated grapes being produced every year. (6 x 75 cl)

Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet CLOS DU CHATEAU Blanc Bourgogne
Description: Since Etienne de Montille took over Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet as director in 2001 this sleeping giant has been re-awoken. Previously this fine estate over-cropped and over-oaked to produce 'in your face' wines with little or no terroir definition. Etienne has changed all that. He has carried out extensive work in the vineyards (12 x 37.5 CL)

Chateau Pesquie TERRASSES Rouge Rhone Valley Vineyards Ventoux
Description: This blend of 70 % Grenache and 30 % Syrah is a dark red colour showing a nose that blossoms into jammy berry aromas set off by a touch of spice. This medium to full-bodied wine with a powerful mouthfeel is showing elegant and onctuous tannins, enhanced by very round cherry and black current notes and finishing with spicy flavours. This wines name comes from the Latin terras, meaning 'lump of earth'. The Cotes du Ventoux region is characterised by alternating hills and valleys. To make the most of this exceptional terroir, grape growers and other farmers had to accomplish the colossal feat of building 'terraces' into the steep hillsides, choosing especially well-protected, sunny locations. Still today, the Provence countryside boasts centuries-old olive trees planted on terraces called restanques or rebanques in Provencal. Paul and Edith Chaudiere chose this name in homage to the Provence countryside terraces their ancestors carved into carefully chosen sites. The sleepy village of Mormoiron was certainly shaken up when the dynamic Chaudiere family bought Chateau Pesquie and set about making wine to a level that had never before been achieved in the Ventoux. Paul Chaudiere is keen on technology, but also devoted to quality. He employs new methods to produce wines of simply stunning quality from his 72 hectares, with richness, colour and concentration that his neighbours can only dream of. Ambition seems to have been coupled perfectly with both an innate winemaking ability and a rare understanding of the market ensuring that this family domaine produces wines of great quality that people want to drink. 'One of the superstar estates of the Cotes-du-Ventoux', according to Robert Parker. (12 x 75 cl)

From his vineyard Pascal produces very stylish wines, showing good depth, complexity, and mineral 'fraicheur'. His style on reds is pure, elegant and fruit-driven with good volume and beautifully rounded tannins. (12 x 75 cl)
