Description: The Pichon Longueville estate goes back to 1688-69. In 1859 Virginie de Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande, and her two sisters, inherited three-fifths of the vineyard from their father. This took on the name of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. In 1978, May-Elaine de Lencquesaing, daughter of Edouard Miailhe, in turn inherited this beautiful property and devoted herself entirely to continuing the tradition of quality wine. Just two families have been responsible for maintaining this wine's superb reputation for three centuries. Bordering on Chateau Latour; second growth Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is located in the southern part of Pauillac, near Saint-Julien. The unusual choice of grapes varieties is a partial explanation for this wine's outstanding personality. Echeverria LATE HARVEST Sauvignon Blanc Maule Chile
Description: In 1740 the Echeverría family moved to Chile, and has been prominent in Chilean agriculture, and active in grape growing and winemaking since then. In the early 1900's, the Echeverría family established a vineyard and winery in the outskirts of the town of Molina, in the Curico Valley, the wine heartland of Chile. Since then, Vina Echeverría has been growing fine grapes from French pre-philloxera rootstocks, and producing fine wines in that same location. Great care is taken in making this wine, here the harvest is done entirely by hand and carried to the winery in 18 Kg. boxes immediately after cutting. The grapes undergoe whole cluster pressing with 48 hour static sedimentation prior to fermentation. Fermented with selected yeasts at 18ºC constant temperature in stainless steel tanks for 45 days, the wine is then transferred to oak barrels for moderate ageing. Finally, the wine is matured in bottles for at least 6 months before release. This wine is a lovely golden yellow colour with a complex nose showing clear overtones of mature peaches, apricots and honey, with a delicate background of botrytis. Marked notes of quince jam and creamy honeyed flavours are enlivened by a good level of acidity, while the rich, intense and full bodied flavours culminate in a long and elegant finish where the fruits and botrytis express their identity in full harmony. The Domaine Gérard Chavy, now run by Gérard's sons Jean-Louis and Alain, with this substantial acreage in the appellation provides the rare opportunity of offering reasonable quantities of domaine-bottled Puligny-Montrachet. These wines are styled to reflect the terrior of the vineyard with vines on average 25 year old, the wine is 70% barrel fermented and 30% tank fermented.
