Fairview AGOSTINELLI RED Paarl RSA
Description: The wine has a deep red colour with a spiced plum fruit on the nose and is a blend of 43% Barbera, 25% Sangiovese, 14% Primitivo and 18% Nebbiolo. It has good depth with vibrant, rounded fruit on the palate and the characteristic tannin structure of both the Italian varieties and the Fairview wines. This wine was developed by Charles Back of Fairview as a tribute to the influence that the Italian farming community has had on agriculture in the Cape. In particular, this praise was to Michele Agostinelli, who helped Fairview develop their cheese business in the early 1980s. (12 x 75 cl)

Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Blanc
Description: After the ravages of the phylloxera aphid at the end of the 19th century it was the Latour family that took the now-celebrated decision to tear up the dead Aligote and Pinot Noir vines and to replace them with Chardonnay. The vineyard of Corton-Charlemagne is situated in the prime area of the hillside of Corton where its south-easterly aspect ensures maximum exposure to the sun. The Corton-Charlemagne 2001 is a dazzling gold. The nose is loaded with intense aromas including candied bananas and subtle oak. The palate is full of youthful exuberance and notes of almonds, vanilla, oak and minerals. This is a huge, powerful, round Grand Cru that is still young but lingers deliciously (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Winemaker Comments: A bright ruby color with intense aromas of red and black fruits like cherries, blackberries, raspberries and cassis. Intense in fruit, soft in tannins, full body and lingering finish. • Winemaking techniques: The grapes were hand harvest between the middle of April and May. The grapes remained with the skins for one week at 2ºC cold maceration. Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at 26ºC to 28ºC. Malolactic fermentation took place naturally in tanks and barrels. 30% of the wine aged in French and American oak for 6 months. After, this portion of the wine was blended with the stainless steel wine, then fined and bottled. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Collards Brothers is a family owned company dedicated to growing and producing premium wines. The original estate was founded in 1910 by an English horticulturalist, J.W. Collard. During the 1960’s further plantings of the best classical varieties then available were undertaken by Lionel Collard on the Henderson Estate. Today this vineyard grows Merlot, Malbec, Semillon and Riesling. In 1979 a second Collard vineyard was established by Bruce and Geoffrey Collard which today produces many of the top wines under the 'Rothesay' label. This site is favoured with unique conditions for viticulture with gentle slopes, high sunshine hours and warm summers moderated by Tasman sea breezes. Belonging to the new generation of New Zealand reds, this wine has been grown in the highly suitable shingly soils of the Gimblett Road district of Hawkes Bay. It has spent 12 months in American oak barriques imported from Schahinger, Adelaide and Demptos, Napa. This well made Merlot is showing ripe berry and plum fruit characters, soft tannins as well as spicy complexity. A well structured wine that is continuing to develop in bottle. (12 x 75 cl)
