Bergsig Estate Chardonnay Breede River Valley RSA
Description: The Bergsig Estate has been in the Lategan family since 1843. De Wet Lategan is the sixth generation winemaker and has obtained a BSc degrees in Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch, before joining the family firm in 1990. His brothers Louis and Plum manage the vineyards. Their father Prop Lategan is still very active in the general management and promotion of the wines from his beautiful 400 Ha farm in the foothills of Bainskloof Mountain. Bergsig Estate lies at the narrow funnel-like entrance to the Breede River Valley. The regular afternoon South-easterly breezes have a moderating effect on the summer heat and ensures cool picking temperatures throughout the day. The Bergsig Estate was the first winery outside the coastal region to earn a superior award for red wine. More specifically the 1978 Cabernet Sauvignon. This encouraged Prop Lategan to plant more red varieties and today 20% of all plantings are Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot, Pinotage, Ruby Cabernet and Tinta Barocca. On the white side Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and now the very popular Gewurztraminer predominate. The modern cellar handles 4000 tons per harvest and boasts a separate wood maturation cellar. Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot South Australia
Description: The reputation of Wynns Coonawarra Estate stretches back four decades to 1951 when David Wynn recognised the potential quality of Coonawarra's wines. He purchased the original cellars built by John Riddoch in 1896 and began a winemaking legacy that continues to this day. The only blend in the range, Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot captures all the elegant fruit character that Coonawarra has to offer in a wine that drinks best while relatively young. The Cabernet provides flavour, length and structure; the Shiraz imparts a spicy complexity and richness, while the Merlot adds softness. The resulting red offers a rich balance of varietal characters in a smooth and approachable wine. Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon , Shiraz and Merlot . Oak Maturation: Matured for 10 months in a mix of new and used American and French oak barrels. Colour: Deep red with purple hues. Nose: Fragrant, leafy aromas with hints of mint and eucalyptus underlined with dusty oak. Palate: The palate is earthy and supple with soft, dark, berry fruit with a spicy finish and fresh aftertaste. This wine is made for current drinking, thus would only benefit from short-term cellaring. (6 x 75 cl)

Lorenzon BORGO dei VASSALLI Pinot Grigio Isonzo DOC
Description: This wine has lovely aromatics, nice depth on the palate and good length. The Lorenzon family's 160 hectares of vineyard in the Isonzo DOC zone in South-Eastern Friuli are primarily split between two blocks. The Borgo dei Vassalli vineyard is situated towards the south of the zone, where the vineyards are on richer soil. Despite this, the care that the Lorenzon family put into working their vineyards ensures that excellent quality fruit, which is ripe and flavourful, arrives at the winery. These characters are captured in the wine by winemaker Davide Lorenzon , resulting in wines of great value. The wine has been sealed under stelvin to eliminate cork taint and ensure that the wine arrives with you as the winemaker intended it to be. (12 x 75 cl)
