Pio Cesare Barolo DOCG Piemonte
Description: The colour is an intense glossy garnet, with orange reflections. The bouquet is ethereal, with hints of violets, blackberry jam, licorice and cloves. The palate is dry and austere, with a lingering hint of almonds. The Nebbiolo grapes used to produce this Barolo come from the family vineyards around the village of Serralunga d'Alba. Their own grapes account for about 70% of our production, and they also source grapes from the most favourable areas in Castiglione Falletto and Monforte, using the same producers they have been using for the last hundred years. These are growers with whom we have been dealing for generations, and the relationships are much deeper than normal business relationships. This Barolo has always been produced through careful blending of grapes from different vineyards. Pio Cesare stubbornly sticks to this tradition because they believe that the union of grapes from different vineyards makes their Barolo unique. The grapes from Serralunga give a full body, the ones from Castiglione Falletto offer an ethereal and tempting nose, and those from Monforte provide class and a refined nature. This produces a unique and inimitable wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Stadt Krems LOSSTERRASSEN Gruner Veltliner Qba Kremstal
Description: The Weingut Stadt Krems is an ancient estate owned by the town of Krems with over 32 hectares of vineyards. Its land has come from two main sources. In 1210 the Babenberger Duke Leopold VI founded a Citizen's Hospital in Krems and bequeathed it a large amount of vineyards. In 1452 more land was bequeathed to the estate by the Imperial Burgrave Ulrich von Dachsberg. Until 1744 the wines were made in the gothic vaults of the town hall but for the past couple of centuries have been produced in a more modern, convenient facility, with vinification carried out in stainless steel, temperature controlled tanks to maintain freshness and clarity in the wines. Austria's most widely planted grape variety produces wine that is best enjoyed fairly young. Keen acidity and fresh grapey fruit make this an attractive, refreshing wine.
