Alain Meunier and his wife, Sophie own this 7 hectare vineyard estate based at Premaux-Prissey, south of Nuits, additionally they have vineyard holdings in many parts of the Cotes de Nuits. Attention to detail and a passion for their work has produced wines with an exciting and enviable reputation. The grapes are grown organically and, to maximise the fruit, all the grapes are de-stemmed before vinification. These are powerful, rich wines that are bottled early to protect their intense, concentrated fruit. The wines are only racked before bottling, so there is 15-18 months of extended lees contact. The grand crus are aged in 100% new French oak, and the premier crus in 80%. This wine is a great reflection of the region with plenty of depth, structure and black fruit flavours. The blackberry and plum aromas follow through onto the palate with soft silky tannins and a great finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Querciabella CAMARTINA Tuscana IGT
Description: Querciabella, founded in 1974 began life as a 1 hectare vineyard but today has 26 hectares of vines producing great wine with an international reputation. Concentrating on small yields where the emphasis is placed on concentration and richness of the fruit, the vineyard is run according to biodynamic priciples that exceed the European Standard.. Querciabella is a Chianti Classico DOCG that presently produces four wines from the vineyards of its Chianti Classico estate in Greve in Chianti. Batar is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc; Chianti Classico; Camartina a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon while Palafreno, a new release, is a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese. Great care is taken from the vineyard to the winery when producing this wine as the grapes are carefully selected in the vineyards, hand harvested and put into 8 kilo crates. Then the grapes are destemmed, but not crushed, and the very best parcels are conveyed into temperature controlled stainless steel vats. After fermentation the wine is transferred to barriques, here the different cepages undergo separate elevage for one year. At this stage, the best lots, selected through extensive tasting and assembled into the final blend, where they undergo another year of elevage. Finally, the wine is aged in French Oak that comes from Allier, Nevers, and Troncais using 80% new and 20% one year old barrels. The wine is regularly racked and tasted during the whole barrel maturation and after bottling the wine rests for about six months before release . A Ruby red Super Tuscan, this wine is blend of 50% Sangiovese; 45% Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a little Merlot and Syrah. Dark forrest fruit dominate the nose and develop on the palate with great intensity as this complex wine shows exceptional structure culminating in a very long grippy finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau de Pez Cru Bourgeois Saint Estephe
Description: The domaine of Pez, created in the 15th century, is, along with Calon, the oldest in Saint Estephe. In 1452, squire Jean de Briscos ruled the estate: in 1526 the nobleman Ducos was master, followed by Jean de Pontac in 1585. The Pontac family, who likewise created Haut Brion, gave Pez its vineyards. The property remained in the hands of descendants... the marquis d'Aulede and count de Fumel, until the French Revolution. Sold as a property of the state, the domaine belonged to the Tarteiron and Dousson families in succession. It was purchased in 1995 by Champagne Louis Roederer. Chateau de Pez is located west of the town of Saint Estephe, the estate consists of 30 continuous hectares, with 24 hectares under vine, planted to prime grape varieties, mainly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chateau de Pez winery remains resolutely faithful to wood. The blend is composed in December, then the wine is stored on barrels and racked every 3 months. After approx. 1 year, roughly midway through the maturation process, the wine is fined using fresh egg whites. It is to be noted that the wine undergoes absolutely no filtration. Chateau de Pez exhibits deep colour and harmonious composition. This complete, rich, dense wine merits ageing. Thanks to the quality of its production, Chateau de Pez is counted amongst the most highly reputed crus of the Medoc. Deep, opaque ruby hue. Forward, opulent spice box, black fruit and mineral aromas. A lush entry leads to a moderately full bodied palate with velvety tannins. Supple and hedonistic with very good flavor intensity. Grippy finish. (12 x 75 cl)
