Over 20 years ago, the pioneering Norwegian Armador, Dan Odfjell discovered and fell in love with a small corner of the famous Maipo Valley, Chile. Born of rain in Bergen, Norway, he could not resist the attraction of the austral sun in this Virgilian setting. Serendipity would later show that he had found land in Chile's premium red wine producing valley, where vitis vinifera has been cultivated since the 17th century. Here a soothing coastal breeze produces a microclimate conducive to distinct and beautiful wines on the 85 hectares planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenere, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. This hand harvested Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Merlot and Cabernet Franc is a red/ ruby colour with violet reflections. The aromas with notes of red wild berries such as blackberry and raspberry, as well as plums combine well with Odfjell signature licorice. On the palate, the wine has a round attack, showing fruit and a refreshing, well-balanced, acidity, with a long and juicy finish. Produced from 10 year old vines in the Maipo Valley, the vineyard is surrounded by mountains. Here the wide variation in temperature, with high temperatures during the day, and cool nights develops the grapes full potential. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Francois Mikulski LES PORUZOTS 1er Cru Meursault
Description: Francois Mikulski has 8 hectares of vineyards in Pommard and Meursault, with new cellars directly behind the great Comte Lafon. These cellars are impressive and inside there are some 300 barrels, mostly new. While his wine style holds back on the use of new oak only using small proportions in the village and 1er Cru wines the result is a restrained wine with steely concentration and elegance. The Poruzots vineyard is a little lower than Genevrieres vineyard and closer to the village this wine is a typical Meursault great aromas and flavours of white fruit, spice and white flowers. The rich mineral style with great balancing acid follows through the complex finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Graham Beck Winery WATERSIDE Chardonnay Robertson South Africa
Description: Graham Beck Wines is now entering its third generation as a family winery. It was established in 1983 when entrepreneur Graham Beck purchased Madeba farm outside the Western Cape town of Robertson with a fervent ambition to establish a world-class winery in this region. Made at the Robertson Cellar this is one of Graham Beck Winery's most popular wines, and is a blend of 86% chardonnay and 14% colombard. Graham Beck’s Robertson cellar and farm are situated in the Breederiver Valley bordering the semi-arid Little Karoo region. The warm climate in combination with mineral and fossil rich soils gives this area a distinct character which reflect into its quality wines. Selection of Chardonnay vineyards was considered very carefully and the vines choosen have been planted on rich limestone soil. The Colombard vines were planted on alluvial soils along the Finch River. The harvest was done by hand and the grapes hand selected, the Chardonnay was picked during cool morning hours during the second week of February 2004 and the Colombard in the same way in the second week of March 2004. Both varieties were handled separately and were destalked, gently crushed and pressed immediately. The juice is settled overnight and then transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation at 14° to 16°C. Some of the Chardonnay and Colombard were fermented with staves. After fermentation the wine was left on it's lees for 6 weeks, during this time the lees was stirred once a week to aid in the mouth feel of the final blend. No malolactic was encouraged to ensure freshness and zestiness. The wine was then racked and prepared for bottling. This blend has a wonderful fresh lime aromas mixed with tropical zestiness on the nose. Good firm acidity with lots of citrus, melon and grapefruit flavours on the palate. Delightful wine with a long finish, this wine is to be enjoyed youthful. (12 x 75 cl)
