Bodegas Pinord CLOS de TORRIBAS Crianza Penedes
Description: The history of Bodegas Pinord can be traced back to the time when, over one hundred and fifty years ago, the Tetas family began making white and red wines on their estate in Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues from grapes they themselves had grown. Even at that time they produced and aged the wines using the most traditional methods employed in the region. In 1942, Jose Maria Tetas set up the current winery in Vilafranca del Penedès, just four kilometres from the original estate. Having inherited the family methods and traditions, it has gradually grown until it has now become one of the most highly reputed wineries in the region. Made from 90% Tempranillo with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a plum red colour with dark ruby overtones. The intense aroma is a great refelction of aging in the barrel and the smell of ripe fruit, recalling the Mediterranean grapes from which the wine is made is also evident. Light on the palate yet not lacking in body the tannins in this Crianza have been ennobled during the ageing period to leave a very pleasant after-taste. (12 x 75 cl)

Bellavista MILLENNIUM CUVEE BRUT DOC Methodo Franciacorta Sparkling Wine
Description: Yellow straw in colour with greenish tinges with a very fine and persistent perlage, intense, fresh perfume with hints of laurel and flowers. Entrepreneur Vittorio Moretti’s success in the building industry allowed him to indulge his passion for wine in the creation of a small estate. It began virtually as a hobby, but over the years it became the focus of Moretti’s work. With the gifted enologist Mattia Vezzola at the helm since 1980, Bellavista now produce wines of real finesse and individuality. The 50 hectares of vineyards are cultivated according to organic principles, and planting densities are high in order to limit yields per vine. In cellars carved into the hillside above Lake Iseo, vinification reflects both avant garde techniques and many of the traditions of Champagne. Long ageing on the lees in bottle is de rigueur for the sparkling wines, and the barrique is employed with great subtlety. For the Franciacorta wines, 40% of the juice is barrel-fermented. The resulted house style is characterised by an elegant balance, classy yeasty nose, a very fine perlage and persistent mousse (1 x 3 Litres)

Papapietro Perry Winery Pinot Noir Russian River Valley California
Description: Papapietro Perry’s foundation is a long friendship among work colleagues with common interests and a driving passion to make fine wine. Ben Papapietro and Bruce Perry met during their careers with the San Francisco Newspaper Agency, publisher of the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner. As their friendship developed, they discovered they both came from families where Grandpa’s homemade wine was as common on the dinner table as vegetables from Mom’s garden. Their interest in wine spilled into another friendship at work, this time with Burt Williams, a pressman and co-founder of Williams Selyem Winery. In the ‘70s, Ben helped Bert make garragista wine in Bert's garage in Sonoma County. After Williams Selyem was started, Ben and Bruce helped out each year at harvest—and were seriously bitten by the wine bug. In 1980, Ben began producing his own garragista wines and Bruce joined him a few years later. Inspired by his love of French Burgundies, Ben began making Pinot Noir, diligently seeking high-quality grapes to produce his favorite varietal. By 1990, Ben was purchasing Pinot Noir grapes from some of the most highly-regarded Pinot producers in the Russian River Valley. After several years of hearing friends and family praise their homemade wines, in 1998 Ben and Bruce took the plunge and produced their first commercially available Pinot Noir. Although the first release was only 75 cases, it marked the launch of Papapietro Perry Winery. The Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a blend from three carefully-selected vineyards in the appellation including Leras Family Vineyards, Elsbree Vineyards and Windsor Oaks. Although close in proximity each holds its own distinction Papapietro Perry Winery feel they are among the best the Russian River Valley has to offer. Medium-deep ruby colour with aromas of fruit, spice, smoke and earth. Flavours of red cherry, berry, spice, and minerals satisfy the palate while the sweet oak, solid structure, and firm tannins lead to a long and balanced finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Botalcura EL DELIRIO Reserva Syrah Malbec Chile
Description: Vina Botalcura is the result of the passion of two men. Chilean partner, Juan Fernando Waidele, was seduced by the charm of the town of Botalcura and its environs, and this is where the idea to build a winery started. Juan Fernando then met enologist Philippe Debrus, who had a strong desire to return to a hands-on approach to winemaking, a style he learned in his native France when he was young. The winery is named after the town it is based in, Botalcura, near Talca, about 3 hours south of Santiago, in the coastal mountain range that forms the Maule Valley. Additionally, the word Botalcura means Large Stone in Mapundungun, the language of the Mapuche people of southern Chile. The gapes, sourced in Maule and the Central Valley, are hand-picked into half-ton bins and undergo cluster selection on the vine, with leaf removal. Here great care is taken and illustrated in the harvest taking place only in the morning hours to keep the fruit cool. Finally 30% of the wine spent six months in one and two year old oak barrels before release. This wine showcases the synergy between these two great varieties. The Syrah lends grip and structure, while the Malbec provides color, aromatic complexity, and voluptuous body. The result is a remarkably intense, fruity, and voluminous wine, while it has been barrel aged to complement the grape flavours. This blend of Syrah 65% and Malbec 35% is a medium-deep ruby red colour, with dark red cherry highlights. Displaying attractive aromas of ripe blackberry and black cherry, with notes of violets, oak, black pepper, nutmeg and vanilla the broad palate leads to a round, mouth-filling middle, with good soft tannins. Very elegant, with approachable balance, nice alcohol and acid balance. (12 x 75 cl)
