In 1896 Eugenio Collavini, the founder, first supplied to the best Udinese's families his wines without ever imagining that a century later they would reach the world over. Thanks to the lucky foresight and intuition of the Manlio Collavini, Il Grigio was created in 1974. The foundations for a good sparkling wine were already in the cellars. The right mixture just had to be found between Prosecco, and Chardonnay to obtain a wine that would be innovative and easy to drink. Chardonnay was chosen for its elegance and body. The addition of the Prosecco was essential, for a sparkling wine that's easy to drink and even easier to enjoy. The Chardonnay grapes come mainly from the Friuli hills, the Prosecco from Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Made separately, they come together in the tank. This Sparkling wine is a bright straw colour with a greenish tint and a lasting foam with fine, constant bubbles. A fragrant nose with a hint of apples and pears as well as the scent of yeast lead to a full flavoured wine with a slight touch of citron and a long-lasting taste. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Belle-Garde Bordeaux Rouge AC
Description: Predominantly Merlot based with plum, spice and a good balance of tannins. Eric Duffau established this small estate in 1979 on the slopes facing Saint-Emillion. Grapes are hand picked at their optimum maturity, crushed and left on their skins for up to 4 weeks depending on their vintage. During fermentation they are kept at a constant 30 degrees and stirred twice a day. The wine goes into either cuvees for 12 to 18 months or barriques for 12 months and is opened to the air every 3 months until the winemaker decides it is time to make the final blend. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: BRIEF TASTING NOTE Classic gooseberry and stone fruits with a juicy dry finish. WINE NOTES In its youth the wine is pale straw in colour with bright lime green hints. Aromas are reserved and very tightly focused in its youth in the bright gooseberry/ sweet herb/white peach spectrum and in 2003 for the first time some red capsicum. I expect these to evolve and become more punchy over the next year in a classic ripe Marlborough style. The palate shows very similar characters and flavours which in their youth are vivid and alive. The wine is tightly structured, with a distinctive bony feel that gives the palate length and persistence. Santi PROEMIO Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Veneto
Description: The wine: has a purple colour with garnet rim; intense, very complex bouquet with strong notes of raisins and prunes and hints of vanilla, cinnamon and cherry brandy; full, generous and very firm flavour with an elegant, lingering aftertaste of conserve and spices. It is already well developed, but can keep thanks to its firm and balanced structure. Vinification and Maturation: from the end of September the healthiest bunches are harvested by hand into 7 kg wooden boxes and then left to dry in a controlled humidity until the February; after the pressing the traditional maceration lasts for more than three weeks; towards the end of the fermentation the wine's racked into lightly toasted French barriques used for a varying number of times; the wine's matured for 24 months in wood and rests 6 months in bottle before being sold Unusual fact: this is the modern version of the classic Amarone; richer in fruit, it takes less time to reach the optimum balance for consumption. Production started with the 1995 vintage. Area: San Pietro in Cariano, Marano and Fumane Vine: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara Grapes. The Vineyard: selected vineyards in the communes of San Pietro in Cariano, Marano and Fumane. The vines are trained by the cortina pendente system on soil of average density with clay and limestone mixed with stones well exposed to the southwest. (6 x 75 cl)
