Tyrrells RUFUS STONE Heathcote Shiraz NSW
Description: Dark reds and deep purple in colour. The nose shows lifted spice with fruit and the softer vanillin characteristics of both French and American oak barriques. Flavours on the palate are balanced showing fruit richness, savoury undertones with an elegant and complex structure. The finish is long, and tightly held together by the thread of acidity, so important to the wines of this region. Bodegas Osborne Rare Old Soleras Pedro Ximenez Viejo Sherry
Description: The black bull silhouette of Osborne's trade mark is as much a symbol of Spain as it is of the major drinks group which began in Puerto de Santa Maria in the 18th century. Today, descendants of Thomas Osborne, a native of Exeter, still control the firm. Osborne began as a sherry house and it still boasts a near unrivalled range of wines. The flagship brand "Fino Quinta" is bottled under nitrogen and screw-capped to preserve its freshness; the rare fino-amontillado "Coquinero" is fuller bodied; Bailen is a true Oloroso, pungent and dry. The ultimate expression of sherry lies in the great solera wines. These are very old sherries drawn off in minute quantities from individual soleras: they are fabulous wines by any standard, winning gold medals whenever they are entered in shows, competitions or challenges. Only few houses successfully combine being both a Sherry and Port shippers. Osborne have been Port producers and shippers for nearly forty years; they bring the same concern for quality and authenticity The amazing sweet concentration of this PX is tempered by extended time in an old solera system. The result: decadent opulence (6 x 75 cl)

Fairview LA BERYL BLANC Chenin Blanc Paarl RSA
Description: The La Beryl Blanc from Fairview was produced from hand harvested Chenin Blanc and Semillon. Charles Back added Semillon to the blend this year to add complexity to the Chenin Blanc. The grapes were delicately laid out on beds of straw to desiccate. Eventually the bunches lost about 75% of their volume, intensifying the flavour and sweetness of the berries. The grapes were gently pressed and the juice fermented in French oak barrels. This sweet Chenin is rich yet balanced, and offers superb value for a sweet wine of this quality. Fairview is situated on the lower slopes of Mt. Paarl, the mountain that gives its name to this warm region, which is more sheltered from the moderating maritime influence than nearby Stellenbosch. Fairview has been planted with vines since 1699, when it was known by the name of Bloemkwoolfontein . Fortunately, its name was changed to Fairview by an English owner at the beginning of the 20th century. The property was bought by the grandfather of current owner, Charles Back, in 1937, and was subsequently run by his father, Cyril. Charles has run it for the past 25 years. ''I've spent most of that time in search of a style I'm happy with,'' says Fairview's driving force Charles Back. ''I'm happy that we're now getting plush fruit but with good grip, so better balanced wines.'' (6 x 50 cl)

Groot Constantia Sauvignon Blanc Constantia RSA
Description: The name Constantia is irrevocably linked to the most famous wines to be made in South Africa. Constantia wine was coveted across the globe. Limited volumes were made and it was so expensive that it was exclusively bought and consumed by the aristocracy of the world. Mother Nature smiled when she prepared the Constantia Valley for the winemaker. She bestowed on him the influence of the sun, wind, oceans and fertile soil, and then challenged him to plant vineyards and make excellent wines. To this the owners of Constantia have answered positively for more than three centuries, producing one of the world's most famous sweet blends and today continuing this tradition, creating a range of quality wines. A full bodied wine, showing typical character of Sauvignon Blanc, grown in a cool climate area like Constantia Valley. Distinct ripe fig and gooseberry flavours, with green pepper and grassy tones. An elegant wine with a fresh acidity and a diverse complexity. (6 x 75 cl)

Kingston Estate WILDLIFE Merlot Riverland South Australia
Description: Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis developed a small vineyard and founded Kingston Estate during the 1960s and 1970s, they brought the food-and-wine-loving traditions of their sun drenched Greek homeland to the equally sun-drenched Riverland district of South Australia. The wine shows good depth, being medium red to red/purple in colour. On the nose there is abundant raspberry, cherry and plum jam characters. These continue onto the palate which is rich and warm with soft fleshy tannins, fresh berry fruit and a hint of sweet French oak. After crushing, the juice was fermented on skins with pumpovers daily to ensure maximum extraction of colour and flavour. The wine was matured with 75%French oak and 25%American oak. (12 x 75 cl)

Antinori TIGNANELLO IGT Toscana
Description: The original Super-Tuscan, Tignanello is produced exclusively from the Tignanello vineyard, a 47 hectares southwest-facing, calcareous rocky-marl and limestone soil plot with tufaceous elements, planted between 1,150 and 1,312 feet above sea level at Antinori's Santa Cristina Estate. It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in small oak barrels, the first red wine in modern times to use a non-traditional grape variety, Cabernet, in the blend, and among the first red wines made in Chianti with no white grapes. In all three instances, it set the example for a new breed of exceptional top-of-the-line Italian wine. The Sangiovese and the Cabernet grapes were vinified separately. The Sangiovese grapes were very rich in tannins and the maceration was carried out with very gentle techniques in order to avoid astringency and at the same time to protract the duration of the contact between skins and must to increase the structure. The Cabernet grapes, well balanced in terms of tannin and colour, allowed the use of techniques of maceration more resolute, even still gentle, to assure the same results in balance and structure. The alcoholic fermentation, for the two varieties, was carried out at a temperature never exceeding 30°C in the traditional wooden fermentors. The malolactic fermentation was terminated by the year's end in new oak barrels, still maintaining the two varieties separated. The wines were then blended at the beginning of the new year and returned immediately to one year old barriques. During the ageing in barriques, that lasted about 14 months, the wine was racked depending on its need. After this time it was bottled and aged for a further 12 months at controlled temperature. Single-vineyard, estate-wine it is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Intensely fruity and complex on the nose with hints of wood. This wine is full-bodied, rich and complex in the mouth with exceptional structure a and a lengthy finish. Limited Availability
