Wolf Blass EAGLEHAWK Chardonnay South Eastern Australia
Description: The Eaglehawk Chardonnay is mid straw in colour with a vibrant youthful hue. The bouquet is typical of Australian chardonnay with tropical melon and peach characters and subtle oak integration. The palate is medium weight with rich fruit flavours and a backbone of supporting oak. The finish is crisp, dry and refreshing. Winemaker: David Tierney Suggested food: Chicken and mushroom risotto Cellaring: Drinking very well now and can be cellared for up to three years. Viticulture: Cool to mild weather leading up to the 2002 vintage produced ideal ripening conditions. 100% Chardonnay fruit was sourced from a range of vineyard sites in the premium wine growing regions of South Eastern Australia. Vinification: Following crushing, the wine was cool fermented to retain the fresh fruit flavours. Traditional winemaking techniques including stirring on yeast lees and malolactic fermentation were used on small parcels to further enhance these flavours and add a greater complexity and creamy mouthfeel. The wine was oak matured in American oak for a short time to complete the palate weight and mouthfeel. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Established in 1928 Bodegas Luis Canas is situated in Villabuena in the heart of Rioja Alavesa and is ideally placed to make great wine. Careful work in the vineyards and in the winery ensures that this potential is optimised. Producing around 1.5 million bottles per year the estate controls 90 hectares of its own vineyards and through long term suppliers has another 200 hectares under its control all in Rioja Alavesa. Additionally, it holds ISO 9002 for the modern winery and bottling plant. Luis Canas have made huge progress in recent years and have quite rightly been richly awarded for doing so. No wine in the Rioja region has been as bestowed with praise as Hiru 3 Racimos recently winning the Decanter Trophy for best Tempranillo in the world! Hiru is made from vines that produce only three immensely concentrated bunches, the grapes are then hand selected and fermented. After barrel ageing, the wine emerges a glorious black colour with hints of wild berry fruit, grilled meats and spice. The palate is huge, groaning with fruit, oak, rich tannins and immense length. Description: Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's appreciation for the wines, the people and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast. The fruit for the Russian River Valley Zinfandel is a blend of old-vine, dry farmed and low yielding Zinfandel vineyards predominately from the Russian River Valley. These old vineyards offer an impressive articulation of this idiosyncratic varietal. Zinfandel grown in the Russian River Valley is distinctive due to this region’s cool maritime influence. Bright, natural acidity and vibrant fruit aromas and flavours are a result of typically cool fog-laden nights and warm days. These dry-farmed vineyards planted on low-fertility soils consistantly produce wines of exceptional density, and legendary extract. This old-vine Zinfandel provides alluring aromas of blackberry, sweet pipe tobacco, black pepper and anise complemented by flavours reminiscent of fresh baked blackberry pie with allspice, anise and caramel notes on the finish. Stunningly rich and concentrated, this Russian River Valley Zinfandel has incredible definition of fruit and sweet luscious tannins. To preserve the exotic spice and sweet berry flavours, this wine was neither fined nor filtered. (12 x 75 cl)
