Charles Back/Fairview Wine Estate GOATS DO ROAM Red South Africa
Description: Goats really do roam on the Fairview estate but the pun is more to do with the Rhone varietals like Shiraz and Grenache which Charles Back has planted and which suit the hot South African sun. Concentrated, spicy wine with lots of body and flavourthis is a deep vibrant purple coloured wine with aromas of ripe fruit and spice. Showing juicy ripe fruit this wine is complemented by the fresh palate with firm tannins and good length. The grapes were harvested from vineyards in the Paarl, Perdeberg, Piekenierskloof and Malmesbury regions. The majority of grapes are sourced from dry farmed old bush vines. These vineyards provide low yields, resulting in wine with considerable concentration. The various, predominantly Rhone varietals were harvested ripe and destalked before being fermented at 25 (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Manciat-Poncet LES CRAYS Pouilly-Fuisse Vielles Vignes
Description: Manciat Poncet is a 12-hectare domaine split between the appellations of Macon and Pouilly Fuisse. The Manciat Poncets, who owns the domaine, believe that great wine is born in the vineyards and they work hard in they're immaculately kept vineyards. This wine maintains strict quality standards which include harvesting done entirely by hand and whole cluster pressing. While the work, and the work of their predecessors, is rewarded by the extraordinary quality of their wines, this is one of the top small domaines producing Pouilly Fuissé and Mâcon Charnay and the wines get high marks from virtually everybody. An oak aged Chardonnay exposed to a percentage of new barrels, while most is matured in seasoned, more neutral oak. This wine is elegant, with attractive minerality, balanced fruit and nice finish.
