Description: The Graveyard Vineyard’is the jewel in the Brokenwood crown, responsible for the company's flagship wine. The 14 hectare vineyard was initially planted with Shiraz vines in 1970. With extremely heavy clay soils, yields are low, but fruit flavour is intense through employment of meticulous vinification techniques. It has lifted aromas of dark cherry, clove and ‘sweet’ earth. These are complimented by soft mocha oak and flavours of dark chocolate, plums and spice/pepper characters. The tannins are ripe with a dry, cedar edge. There is a perfect weight of fruit, alcohol and tannin.
