Domaine Josmeyer LES LUTINS Prestige Selections Pinot Blanc Alsace
Description: The renowned house of Josmeyer was founded in 1854 in Wintzenheim and has been in unbroken family ownership for 5 generations. Grapes are sourced from there own 23 hectares of vineyards, which include some four hectares of the renowned Grands Crus Hengst and Brand. In addition Josmeyer have long term contracts for grapes from a further 12 hectares which are worked to the strict Josmeyer principles. The vines are pruned hard and yields are kept well below the average for Alsace. There is a minimal chemical treatment and grass is grown between the rows to restrict yields and encourage the roots deeper into the subsoil. The vineyards are currently being run under the Lutte Raisonnee scheme but the family have experimented siuccessfully with Biodynamie and are moving resolutely towards conversion of all their sources of grape supply to a fully biodynamic regime. All grapes are handpicked and then whole-bunch pressed prior to fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Only natural yeasts are employed and both chaptalization and malolactic fermentation are avoided so as to ensure that the natural balance of each wine is preserved and the vintage and vineyard differences are emphasised (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Giscours 3eme Cru Classe Margaux
Description: This vineyard is located on a beautiful 300 hectare estate. It was documented in 1330 but it was not until 1847 that Count de Pescatore laid the cornerstone of the exquisite chateau overlooking the vines. Giscours' quality was confirmed by its inclusion as a third growth in the 1855 classification. The estate was purchased by Nicolas Tari after World War II and he made major investments in modernising Giscours. In 1995, Eric Albada Jelgersma acquired the right to grow vines and make wine on the estate. He continues to lavish the care and attention that are necessary to maintain Giscours' standing as a world-famous great growth. Soft and appealing with great balance. (12 x 75 cl)

Hopler Trockenbeerenauslese Neusiedlersee Austria
Description: The Hopler winery is located in Winden on the western banks of lake Neusiedl, in the Austrian province of Burgenland. The 24 hectares of cultivated vineyards face south east between the Leithagebirge hills and Lake Neusiedl. Hoplers' location is central to the character of the wine, and by creating a warm, humid microclimate the grapes of the highest quality flourish. In addition the contrasting soils of chalk, gravel and sand are rich in calcium, as well as in slate, contributing to the unique complexity of the wine. This winemaking process dictates that the most mature grapes be allowed to shrivel naturally and be affected by the botrytis mould. The result is a rich concentrated dessert wine whose complex tones treats the palate to hints of nutmeg, clove, honey, apricot and citrus. Available in half bottles. (6 x 37.5 cl)

J Moreau Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos
Description: The first vines were planted on the Grand Cru hillside in Roman times, but it was only in 1938 that their exceptional quality was ratified by decree. 111 hectares stretching out in a crescent shape across the right bank of the River Serein benefit from southern/south-western exposure for optimal sunshine and are entitled to the Chablis Grand Cru appellation. In all likelihood it is in Les Clos that Chablis viticulture began. At 24.75 hectares it is the largest of the seven prestigious Grands Crus. It is also the most homogenous, benefiting from a regular geological slope with a gradient of approximately 200 m, as well as from south-western exposure. It produces very structured, very firm wines characteristic of the terroir with good ageing potential as they need time to open up.Respecting the fruit, the grapes are carefully selected and gently pressed. Then the juice is left to settle before undergoing alcoholic fermentation for 7 to 10 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the wine's fruit and glycerol. Malolactic fermentation gives suppleness. Maturing on the lees brings fatness. The wine is a pale golden colour, with a nose of clean lemon, mint and gun-flint that is very typical of the appellation. This Chablis has a palate of iodine in the mouth with citrus and acacia notes. The wine is still young and rather closed but is a superb wine with excellent ageing potential.

Bodega Caro AMANCAYA Mendoza Argentina
Description: Owner of Chateau Lafite Rothschild for five generations, the Rothschild family has been based in this Bordeaux vineyard since 1868. High values and the respect of traditional methods make them passionate about harmony and excellence. Their wines bear witness to that passion year after year and their skills have patiently enriched the wines through the generations, with world-renowned success. Over the years, Domain Baron de Rothschild has expanded its offerings through the acquisition of several french Chateau's as well as ventures in Portugal. However, in 1998 the Caro Project, based in Mendoza, Argentina was started. The idea was raised about forming a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild and the Catena family. Initial enthusiasm was rapidly transformed into a project to produce a single wine combining French and Argentinean cultures. Amancaya, like its sister wine Caro, has been the latest development and presents a harmonious balance between the Argentinean and Bordeaux styles. A more fruity style wine coming from the higher percentage of Malbec has produced an intense purple-red colour with aromas of ripe red cherries and wild strawberries, underpinned by notes of smoky vanilla from the oak. On the palate it has good concentration but is both fresh and full. Balanced and very attractive with tannins of great quality this is a wine to enjoy to the long finish. The word Amancaya is the native indian name of a flower of the Andes that you can find in the Mendoza area. (12 x 75 cl)
