Siam Winery MONSOON VALLEY Malaga Blanc Chao Phraya Delta Thailand
Description: Siam Winery was founded by Khun Chalerm Yoovidhya in 1982 and the Moonsoon Valley range of wines was launched internationally in 2003. Using a combination of traditional grapes from the region and more familiar varitals from around the world has allowed the Siam Winery to produce medium-bodied wines that are both dry and lower in acidity. The aim of these wines is to enhance, complement and balance a rich mixture of flavours found in Thai cooking. Made from the local Malaga Blanc and Colombard grapes grown on the 'floating vineyard' north of the Gulf of Thailand in the Chao Phraya Delta this pale coloured wine is showing exotic aromas of lemongrass and watermelon. Ferraton Pere et Fils LES DIONNIERES Ermitage AC
Description: The son of a wine producer and a wine producer himself, Jean Ferraton founded his own vineyard in 1946 in the Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage appellations together with his father-in-law, Jean Reverdy. He passed on his passion to his son, Michel who developed the estate by extending the vineyards and adding the current premises in Tain L'Hermitage. In 1994 his son, Samuel Ferraton took over and has continued the family's art of wine-making, preserving the knowledge and learning that have been handed down to him. The Syrah grapes are selected from 30 years old vines and once in the winery barrel ageing occurs between 14 and 18 months depending on the vintage to produce a most peppery, herbaceous and fragrant style. Although closed as well as austere in the finish, the complex nose of black fruits, earth, dried herbs, pepper and minerals is followed by a medium-bodied, tightly-knit wine with high tannin and plenty of structure. Tommasi Viticoltori Amarone della Valpolicella DOC
Description: Tommasi Viticoltori is a family firm founded in 1902 by Giacomo Tommasi and today the estate is run by the 4th generation of family. From grandfather Giacomo's tiny vineyard, the Tommasi estate has grown steadily and now extends over 135 hectares of hillside vineyard blessed by mother nature, not only by a magnificent landscape, but more importantly by its perfect suitability for grapes. The family owns exceptionally well situated estates for the production of high quality white wine in the D.O.C. regions of Soave and near Lake Garda for Lugana, Custoza and Bardolino . In addition, it has vineyards in Valdadige, a valley created by the Adige river in the mountains north of the province of Verona. This wine is produced from the three Valpolicella classic grapes Corvina Veronese , Rondinella and Corvinone . Great care is taken with the grapes as they are placed on small open racks and left to dry by cool breezes of autumn and winter until the following February before they are used in the winery. Aged over 36 months in Slovenian oak and a further year in the bottle has produced an intense ruby red coloured wine. A warm, ripe nose that is both intense and refined gives way to a complex, smooth, full bodied, characteristic wine. The palate is exceptionally intense with chocolate and coffee background that is superbly balanced with power and smoothness. (12 x 75 cl)
