Brac de la Perriere Chateau De La Pilonniere Brouilly
Description: Vintners and wine makers since 1574, the Brac de la Perriere family owns some of the most picturesque properties in Burgundy, Beaujolais-Maconnais, and Cotes du Rhone regions. In 1784, when Jacques Joseph Brac de la Perrière moved to Château de la Pilonniere, located on the slopes of the Brouilly hill, he did not think that he would be guillotined 15 years later. His sons, grandsons and descendants have maintained and developped the 9 hectare estate, always keeping the family tradition of vinifying in the original vat-room. A typical Brouilly wine, it is elegant with a deep red colour and red fruit aromas. A great Gamnay, this wine is showing blackcurrant flavours that combine with a silky texture and ripe tannins on the finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Taylor's QUINTA de VARGELLAS Port
Description: Taylor's has owned the beautiful estate of Vargellas for over a century, and it is acknowledged as one of the great vineyards of the world. It has the highest percentage of old vines of any quinta in the Douro, 60% being over 75 years old. Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Ports are ready to drink from ten years, but will go on developing for another twenty years. Quinta de Vargellas is arguably the most renowned and prestigious estate in the Douro Valley. The reputation of its wines dates back to the 1820s. Since its purchase by Taylor's over a century ago, the wines of Vargellas have formed the backbone of the legendary Taylor's vintage ports. In certain years, however, when a Taylor Vintage is not declared, the best wine of Vargellas has traditionally been bottled as a single-Quinta vintage port. These elegant, scented vintages were initially bottled for the partners' own cellar. However, Taylor's was later to become the earliest shipper to develop a market for this increasingly important category of vintage, and normally released when ready to drink -at least ten years after the harvest. An unseasonably hot spring in 1995 resulted in early budding and by mid April the vines were showing good growth. Conditions for flowering in May were near perfect and once the flowers had set it was obvious that the crop would be larger than usual. A cool early summer was followed by very high temperatures in August. Rain fell on 5th and 7th September and this brought on the grapes to their final ripeness. Picking started at Quinta de Vargellas on 13th September, a week later than most of the region. Conditions were perfect and the highest sugar readings in years were recorded; and the yield was also high. Due to the cool temperatures the fermentation periods were longer than usual ensuring a great extraction of fruit, flavour and colour. Very full colour and concentrated nose. Splendid fruit, a wine of real power and strength. One of the few with a real third dimension on the palate. Real weight and concentration and intensity. Very fine indeed. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Gres Saint Paul ROMANIS Coteaux du Languedoc AOC
Description: During the Middle Ages a small church was erected along the antique Domitian Way between Nimes and Montpellier in the heart of Languedoc Roussillon and named Saint-Paul de Cabrieres. Out of respect to this bygone monument the domain that was built on its ruins bears its name today: Chateau Gres-Saint Paul. Property of the Serviere family since 1830, the 26 ha of vineyards are situated in the commune of Lunel bordering the Mediterranean Sea and overlooking the Camargue and Etang de L'Or. The annual rainfall ranges betwween 600 and 700 mm with uneven distribution where there are 50 to 70 rainless days in summer. During the scorching summer heat the terroir benefits from the evening cool breezes off the nearby Mediterranean Sea, while this cool microclimate at an altitude of almost 50 meters allows the wine to obtain extremely fine aromas. This deep red coloured wine is a blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre. The dark forrest fruit aromas are a prelude to the supple and well structured palate showing lively blackcurrant fruit and ripe tannins that complement the enjoyable finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine du Tariquet Ugni Blanc/Colombard Vins de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne
Description: For the past 20 years the Grassa family have been putting Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne on the viticultural map and have established a worldwide reputation for their various Domaines, from Gold medal after Gold medal in international competitions to the world's leading wine writers citing Yves Grassa as one of the world's most dynamic and innovative winemakers. Indeed, back in 1989 the Domaine du Tariquet Ugni Blanc/Colombard won White Wine of the Year at the International Wine Challenge . Domaine Tariquet is the property where Yves Grassa lives on the family estate and it is here that he tends his most precious vines. The style of winemaking is always one of freshness, elegance and finesse and the Domaine Tariquet range is no exception. Yves is passionate about his winemaking and as a perfectionist is constantly looking at ways of improving what most people agree is a faultless operation, even to the point that he sleeps on a camp bed between the vats during vinification, just in case a minor adjustment needs to be made to the temperature! The "entry level" Ugni Blanc/Colombard is fresh and zesty, with bags of melon and peach fruit and incredible finish, while the Sauvignon makes many a Sancerre producer blush. His Chardonnay is fermented and matured in 3 different types of wood and yeasts from California, Australia and Burgundy are used. The Chardonnay/Sauvignon is a rare animal indeed (12 x 75 cl)
