Petra ZINGARI Toscano IGT
Description: Petra is located in the hills of Maremma in Tuscany and the 300 acre estate is controlled by the father and daughter team of Vittorio and Francesca Moretti. A Pleasant, fresh wine, ready to drink, it is the result of an experimental approach to the vineyard and to winemaking. The grapes used for Zingari wine come from vines at the foot of hills, where the soil is mainly clayey and sandy. The grapes, which are hand-picked in the second half of August, are put through a short maceration of 7-10 days maximum. Fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel tanks, and this is also where the complete malolactic fermentation takes place. Experimental vinification techniques have been used, such as using a French-designed experimental micro-oxygenation system. A ruby red coloured blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah and petit Verdot. This wine immediately opens up with floral and fruity notes on the nose that blend together over a pleasant vegetal background. A fragrant and clean taste of cherry, marasca and notes of dog rose are evident in this well balanced wine with an ebjoyable finish. The Zingari label comes from a pictorial interpretation of the spiral theme; its geometric structure, common in the plant kingdom, recalls the evolution of a force. It represents the repeated rhythms of life, the cyclic nature of evolution, a symbol of the earth's fecundity and fertility.

Description: The wines of Lucien Boillot et Fils aren't the type to take a back seat. They have been variously described as meaty, substantial, tannic, robust, spicy and austere. People talk of them having a big presence on the palate. Sons Pierre and Louis Boillot now manage the domaine. There style is powerful and a wine that will cellar and soften, for years. This Pinot Noir has a lovely purple red colour. Refined forrest fruit aromas are evident is this chunky wine with red plum fruit and vivid acidity opening well on the palate with a long finish. Description: It is yellow straw in colour with greenish tinges with a very fine and persistent perlage, intense, fresh and penetrating perfume with reflections of laurel and almonds, dry without excess, matured for 36 months. Entrepreneur Vittorio Moretti’s success in the building industry allowed him to indulge his passion for wine in the creation of a small estate. It began virtually as a hobby, but over the years it became the focus of Moretti’s work. With the gifted enologist Mattia Vezzola at the helm since 1980, Bellavista now produce wines of real finesse and individuality. The 50 hectares of vineyards are cultivated according to organic principles, and planting densities are high in order to limit yields per vine. In cellars carved into the hillside above Lake Iseo, vinification reflects both avant garde techniques and many of the traditions of Champagne. Long ageing on the lees in bottle is de rigueur for the sparkling wines, and the barrique is employed with great subtlety. For the Franciacorta wines, 40% of the juice is barrel-fermented. The resulted house style is characterised by an elegant balance, classy yeasty nose, a very fine perlage and persistent mousse (6 x 1.5 Litres)

Description: The Crest Label Riesling is bright and light in colour with fresh, floral perfumes on the nose. It is clean and racy on the palate with light citrus and crisp apple notes, finishing with a lemon/lime twist. In addition, sulphur levels at Schloss Vollrads are much lower than in most German wines because of the estate’s meticulous approach to hygiene and their eschewal of the use of suss-reserve. With nearly 800 years of viticulture experience, Schloss Vollrads is one of the oldest wine estates, not only in Germany, but probably in the world. Situated in the heart of the Rheingau, the estate’s 60 hectares of vineyards are planted exclusively with Riesling. The quality of the Schloss Vollrads wines is the culmination of the work done by Rowald Hepp since 1997. They have pristine Riesling flavours, unmarred by the addition of suss-reserve, stunning perfumes, great length, balance and a weight that derives from the natural ripeness of the fruit rather than sugar. The wine is sealed with Vinolok, a glass stopper that is, according to winemaker Rowald Hepp, every bit as good as Stelvin, especially for aromatic varieties like Riesling. (12 x 75 cl)

Querciabella CAMARTINA Tuscana IGT
Description: Querciabella, founded in 1974 began life as a 1 hectare vineyard but today has 26 hectares of vines producing great wine with an international reputation. Concentrating on small yields where the emphasis is placed on concentration and richness of the fruit, the vineyard is run according to biodynamic priciples that exceed the European Standard.. Querciabella is a Chianti Classico DOCG that presently produces four wines from the vineyards of its Chianti Classico estate in Greve in Chianti. Batar is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc; Chianti Classico; Camartina a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon while Palafreno, a new release, is a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese. Great care is taken from the vineyard to the winery when producing this wine as the grapes are carefully selected in the vineyards, hand harvested and put into 8 kilo crates. Then the grapes are destemmed, but not crushed, and the very best parcels are conveyed into temperature controlled stainless steel vats. After fermentation the wine is transferred to barriques, here the different cepages undergo separate elevage for one year. At this stage, the best lots, selected through extensive tasting and assembled into the final blend, where they undergo another year of elevage. Finally, the wine is aged in French Oak that comes from Allier, Nevers, and Troncais using 80% new and 20% one year old barrels. The wine is regularly racked and tasted during the whole barrel maturation and after bottling the wine rests for about six months before release . A Ruby red Super Tuscan, this wine is blend of 50% Sangiovese; 45% Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a little Merlot and Syrah. Dark forrest fruit dominate the nose and develop on the palate with great intensity as this complex wine shows exceptional structure culminating in a very long grippy finish.
