Domaine De Gournier CUVEE TEMPLIERE Rouge Vin de Pays Cevennes
Description: During September 2002, the Nimes area of southern France was absolutely deluged with rain, and the region suffered one of the worst floods in decades. The owner of Gournier, Maurice Barnouin, literally had to be helicoptered off the roof of his house to escape the torrential rain. His house, the adjoining winery, and most of the contents of his cellar, were carried down river. Since December 2002, Maurice Barnouin, the passionate owner of Gournier, has committed himself to the reconstruction of his life at Gournier, and has re-built a beautiful winemaking facility to receive the excellent 2003 harvest. Now owning over 200 ha of vineyards between Uzes and Nimes, the modern vinification methods and controlled yields ensure the consistency and personality of the range. Cuvée Templìere is a superb, multiple medal-winning red in very limited supply. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah and Mourvedre aged in barrique, it has a wonderful, almost new world berry fruit character with classy tannins and well-judged vanilla oak flavours. Limited Availability. (12 x 75 cl)

Trinity Hill HIGH COUNTRY Pinot Noir Gimblett Gravels Hawke's Bay NZ
Description: Hawkes Bay has a unique micro climate where vines reach deep into the stony, free draining soil of the old Ngaruroro riverbed, sheltered from the prevailing Westerly winds, basking in an abundance of dry, warm weather. At Trinity Hill's Gimblett Road Vineyards, the river stones gently release their heat long after the sun has set. This helps to promote perfect ripening of the grapes. Vines are planted, trained and pruned to expose as much leaf and fruit to sunlight as possible. North-South planted vine rows allow the mid day sun to warm the ground between rows, while removal of shoots and flowers early in the season reduces the crop level and opens the vine out to light and air. Using these techniques, the winegrowers at Trinity Hill grow moderate crops to consistently produce concentrated flavour and colour intensity in the finished wine. Characters of black fruits, such as plums, blackcurrant and cherry are evident, along with raspberry aromas. However, this wine is more about texture and structure than primary fruit, with complexity derived from the different clones and winemaking techniques used. (12 x 75 cl)

Lanzerac Estate Sauvignon Blanc Stellenbosch
Description: The vineyards of Lanzerac are to be found in the quiet and utterly serene surroundings of the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch, South Africa. It was here that in 1958, following the French practice of combining wine farm and country hotel, that the Lanzerac homestead was transformed into a luxury manor. More recently, in 1991, South African businessman Christo Wiese purchased the Lanzerac farm and set about renovating the homestead and its land. In the process, the Lanzerac Manor and Winery was restored to its former glory as one of the region's most distinguished examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Wynand Hamman was appointed as winemaker and immediately set about replanting the vineyards and building a truly modern cellar. All wines are therefore made, bottled and produced on the 155 hectare country estate. Although this limits production capacity, it assists winemaker Wynand Hamman in concentrating on growing the right varieties for our unique terroir and to handle the fruit and wines with greater care and respect. Due to this quality-orientated policy we have helped pioneer the noble white varieties in South Africa and are proud to have received various national and international awards and accolades for our efforts. This wine has an attractive yellow-green hue, while tropical fruits, pineapple and guava predominate on the nose. The palate shows finesse and elegance as the tropical tones continue through to the palate a supported by a crisp acidity leading to an enjoyable expressive finish. (12 x 75 cl)
