Description: Warrior is the oldest mark of Port in the World, having been shipped continuously since the 1750's. The traditional style has been maintained over the years and is today a classic full-bodied wine with wonderful richness and balance. Aged in seasoned oak casks for 4 to 5 years before being drawn off and bottled following a light filtration. Warrior Special Reserve is ready for immediate drinking and does not require any decanting or ageing. Description: Continuity of style is all-important to Veuve Clicquot, and it is displayed year after year in Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec. Like Brut Yellow Label, Demi-Sec is a blend of several good years, but behind its white label is a very different wine, sweeter yet equally mature and balanced. Demi-Sec is a Champagne blended from wines of several good years, each one made of the grapes of Veuve Clicquot's legendary Premiers and Grands Crus. The blend comprises about 56% Pinot Noir, about 28% Chardonnay and about 16% Pinot Meunier. The glorious sweetness of Demi-Sec derives from a weighty dosage of sugar mixed with reserve wine. This is added during degorgement, after the second fermentation, producing a more soft and supple balance but always retaining the freshness so essential in a sweet wine. The wine is bright and clear, a rich yellow colour with golden shades, with a persistent and delightful sparkle. On the nose it is rich and intense, dominated by nutty, spicy aromas- almonds, nougat, honey and ginger. It is of course sweet on the palate, but this is a refreshing sweetness, not in the least cloying. The taste is well balanced, reminiscent of plums and dried fruits. Chateau Batailley 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac
Description: Chateau Batailley is classified as a 5eme Cru Classe, while the name Batailley is said to derive from a 'bataille' fought 600 years ago between the French and the English on the same spot as the present property. Today Chateau Batailley is owned by Emile Casteja of the famous negociants, Borie-Manoux. The estate covers 55 hectares with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. The terrior is a based on a gravel bed, with clay and limestone subsoil. Vinification takes place in a mixture of oak, stainless steel, and cement vats, followed by 18 months maturation in oak barriques of which 50% are new. A lovely red coloured wine with a nose of oak, dark forrest fruits and vanilla hints. The oak is well integrated with dark forrest fruit flavours dominating through to the strong finish. Domaine Jean Pillot LES CHAMPS CLAUDE Santenay
Description: Jean-Marc Pillot has recently taken over from his father, Jean, at the family owned domaine. While able to draw on the experience and advice of his father he has made changes to the estate, including a new cave, that have propelled the domaine up the league of premiere producers of wine in Burgundy. Equally capable of producing great white or red wine the style is always intensely fruity, graceful, and precise. With white wines dominating the 10 hectare domaine the vineyard holdings are spread throughout the village of Chassagne with subsidiary parcels in Puligny, Santenay, and Remigny . The vines in most parcels are between 25 and 50 years old. Traditional viticultural practices are used in the vineyards where, Cordon de Royat and Guyot Simple pruning and training systems are employed. The grapes are completely destemmed before being sent into open top tanks where the Pinot Noir undergoes cold maceration for 5 days at less than 10 C, before spending 10 to 18 months in barrel. The 40 year old Pinot Noir vines have produced a ruby/red coloured wine. With aromas of red fruits and smoke, the great tannin structure reveals dense ripe fruit flavours and a long finish.

Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino RISERVA DOCG
Description: Poggio Antico is located in Montalcino, a small town in Tuscany about fifty kilometers south of Siena. The earliest written records of the estate date from the beginning of the 19th century, when the present boundaries were marked. At that time, the estate consisted of woodland, grassland, and three stone houses. The development of Poggio Antico started in the late 1970s, when electricity was brought in, vineyards were planted, and construction of the wine cellar began. The estate was purchased in 1984 by current owners Giancarlo and Nuccia Gloder, originally from Milan, who had fallen in love with the wines of Montalcino and the unique geographical position of Poggio Antico. As per the D.O.C.G. regulations, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva must be aged for a total of five years as opposed to four required for the regular Brunello, while the Brunello Riserva Poggio Antico is only produced in exceptional vintages. In those years the grapes from the oldest and lowest altitude vineyard are processed and aged separately. The Poggio Antico Riserva then spends three and a half years in wood; the first year of ageing takes place in 500-liter French tonneaux while the remaining ageing is in new Slavonian oak barrels. The wine is then bottle aged for one and a half years before release to complete the mandatory five years of total ageing. The result is a mature, round and complex wine. The rather limited production of Brunello Riserva usually averages 18,000 bottles and due to its characteristics, it is a wine for which further bottle aging is encouraged. The Riserva is an intense ruby red, with garnet hues. Its bouquet is usually evolved and austere, with hints of wild berries, leather, and roasted coffee. In the mouth it has a fully developed rich structure, and is very elegant and smooth thanks to its rich tannins. It is extremely well balanced and rounded, with a persistent silky finish.
