Quinta Do Tedo Late Bottled Vintage Port
Description: A rich vibrant flavour of ripe fruit is scented with hints of wild rock rose. The flavours of fruit preserves give way to a long, chocolaty aftertaste. Late Bottled Vintage Porto is considered to be but half a step away from Vintage Porto. It is made as a separate Porto style. As with Vintage Porto, the grapes come from one harvest, but this wine is aged in wood longer, up to 6 years. Small oak barrels accelerate aeration and allow the wine to mature into a Porto ready to drink immediately after bottling. LBVs do not necessarily need to age in the bottle. In 1992, Vincent Bouchard and his wife Kay Steffey Bouchard saw their dream of owning a winery become a reality. They purchased and began to restore the 250 year old, 34 acre, Quinta do Tedo estate located on the Douro River in Portugal. With great vision, passion and infinite energy, Vincent and Kay continue to revitalize their property and year after year they produce award winning Vintage Portos. Vincent was raised at the Burgundian estate of Bouchard Pere et Fils where his grandfather taught him how to create a wine from the soil in the vineyard all the way to the bottled product. Vincent's success in making balanced and vibrant Portos has a lot to do with his adherence to his grandfather's sage advice of respecting the fruit, its flavour, aroma, sweetness and delicacy. His Portos are all made from the finest quality grapes, selected by himself and his enologist Jorge Alves and controlled by the Instituto do Vinho do Porto. (12 x 75 cl)

Quinta do Vale Meao 2001 VINTAGE Port Douro Portugal
Description: Quinta Do Vale Meao is owned and run by the fifth and sixth generations of the Olazabal family. Today the estate consists of 62 hectares of vines growing traditional varietals including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cao for the range of Red wines and Port. This was the second year that Quinta Do Vale Meao produced vintage Port and it was greeted with as much enthusiasm as the 1999 vintage. In order to deliver the sophistication, complexity and style this port has been aged in new, first and second year barrels and this has produced a deep red/purple colour. The nose is showing plenty of spice and hints of dark forrest fruit. The aromas develop on the palate as the ripe fruits come to the fore showing great balance and structure in this big but stylish vintage Port. (6 x 75 cl)

Ramos Pinto 1997 Vintage Port
Description: The Casa Ramos Pinto Port Wines are prepared in the modern vinification centres at the Quinta dos Bons Ares and the Quinta do Bom Retiro, but in the case of special category wines the grapes are trodden in the traditional wine cellars as this age-old technique allows for the juice of the fruit to be extracted more efficiently and less violently. After having concluded the first steps of vinification, the wines are transported to the historical wine cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia, where they undergo a long ageing process. Exceptional deep colour with bluish highlights with complex mixed aromas which resemble the taste of red fruit jams such as ripe plum or berry, with hints of chocolate and pepper. In the mouth, it is elegant and very well structured, full-bodied and fruity. The firm tannins provide it with great potential for ageing. (12 x 75 cl)
