Warre's 2000 Vintage Port
Description: A pioneer in the production of Port in the early part of the 18th century in 1983 a rather small quantity was made. The freshness and outstanding aromatic quality was probably the best since 1963, possibly excepting the 1977. This Vintage is beginning to show some of the wonderful characteristics of bottle matured wine. A really haunting scent. Wonderful orangey fruit. This has everything. The fruit, acidity and tannin balance is superb. (12 x 75 cl)

Casa Santos Lima PALHA CANAS Tinto Estremadura
Description: The rolling hills north if Lisbon are home to some small Quintas that are applying themselves to the pursuit of high-quality winemaking. One of the more successful ventures is the property of Quinta da Boavista, where consulting enologist Jose Nieve Correira has championed the native grape varieties Periquita and Touriga Nacional over international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon. In this wine, the soft touch of oak provides balance to a wine possessing rich fruit and moderate acidity. This flexible wine is a good choice for quiet nights by the fire, when having dinner delivered in seems to be the best course of action. (12 x 75 cl)

DFJ Vinhos CORETO Blanco Estremadura
Description: The Estremadura wine region stretches north from Lisbon along the coastal area of central Portugal and has a long wine tradition. The sunny climate produces excellent ripe wines but the cooling influence of the Atlantic means that they are always well balanced with a fresh, lively character. José Neiva is the leading oenologist of this important wine region. He has chosen to put his name to this wine after making a selection of prime quality grapes from the huge harvest at his disposal. Made from a blend of selected Portuguese varieties, mainly Malvasia Rei , Vital , Fernao Pires, the grapes are destemmed and fermentation takes place under temperature controlled conditions and the wine is bottled young with no wood contact. This has produced a medium bodied wine with a fresh, lively character, showing good appley, grapey fruit balanced by delicious lemony acidity. (12 x 75 cl)
