Hidalgo Pale Cream Sherry Sanlucar De Barrameda
Description: A sweet wine with a pale golden colour. This wine has the clean fresh characteristic of a Fino but with the smooth sweetness of the Cream. The Hidalgo family originally came from the north of Spain but moved to the south in the eighteenth century, when King Carlos III was encouraging new people to settle in Andalucia. At first the Hidalgos owned estates in the area, and later 'salinas' for making salt. They then entered the wine trade in 1792 when Jose Pantaleon Hidalgo acquired a sherry business from his father-in-law, thus founding the firm that exists today. Since this time the company has been passed down from father to son and, six generations later remains completely independent and is still owned and run by the Hidalgo family. Today it is one of only a handful of fully independent Sherry producers and the company continues to occupy its original premises in the centre of Sanlucar de Barrameda and has always been one of the most important bodegas in this town. (12 x 75 cl)
