Since Etienne de Montille took over Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet as director in 2001 this sleeping giant has been re-awoken. Previously this fine estate over-cropped and over-oaked to produce 'in your face' wines with little or no terroir definition. Etienne has changed all that. He has carried out extensive work in the vineyards (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Jean Pillot Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru
Description: Jean-Marc Pillot has recently taken over from his father, Jean, at the family owned domaine. While able to draw on the experience and advice of his father he has made changes to the estate, including a new cave, that have propelled the domaine up the league of premiere producers of wine in Burgundy. Equally capable of producing great white or red wine the style is always intensely fruity, graceful, and precise. With white wines dominating the 10 hectare domaine the vineyard holdings are spread throughout the village of Chassagne with subsidiary parcels in Puligny, Santenay, and Remigny . The vines in most parcels are between 25 and 50 years old. Traditional viticultural practices are used in the vineyards where, Cordon de Royat and Guyot Simple pruning and training systems are employed. The whites are fermented 12 to 18 months in barrel, never using no more than 25% new wood so as not to overwhelm the intensity of fruit and sense of terroir specific to each wine. Bâtonnage is practiced to enrich the whites but is not exaggerated while the wines are manipulated as little as possible and are bottled unfiltered to preserve their purity. Quantities of this wine are strictly limited with aromas of peach, smoke and minerals it is fat and full with great presence, but quite dry and sappy, with excellent balancing acidity. This is an intense wine and has terrific chewy texture and a very spicy finish.

Highly aromatic nose that combines confectionery fruit notes of lemon cream, apricot and banana with hints of lees and sulfides. This is a wine that reflects its terrior, extremely rich and dense this is a Chardonnay that really fills the mouth with a velvety and dense middle but light on its feet, with sharply delineated grapefruit and pineapple flavours. Finishes with superb verve, grip and stony persistence. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Cornu Chorey-les-Beaune
Description: Spicy, peppery nose; classic rendition of Pinot from this little commune; fruity on the palate with good grip; a solid fellow with texture and flavour concentration. The Cornu family established itself in the town of Ladoix in 1870 and founded the domaine shortly thereafter in 1875. Edmond Cornu assumed command of the estate in 1956 and in 1959 began to bottle the fruits of his labour. Up to that time all wines made at the estate had been sold to negociants. However, as the private clientele increased, Cornu also expanded the domaine. With the ascension of his son, Pierre, to full participation in the domaine, this dynamic family has aggressively pursued additional opportunities to acquire prime vineyard sites. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Tollot-Beaut Chorey-les-Beaune
Description: Tollot-Beaut were among the group of pioneering Burgundians who started producing and bottling their own wines in the early part of the 20th Century. As rich in tradition as this Domaine is, under Nathalie Tollot, no-one rests on their laurels and a premium is placed on quality. Money is spent on new oak every year to ensure a good stock of healthy barrels which provide the perfect resting place for their magnificent wines. However, it is the vineyard where most of the investment goes on. They employ twice as many people per hectare than any of their neighbours to restrict the vigour of the vines and therefore increase the chances of ripe concentrated grapes being produced every year. The wines remain respectful to their origins while sharing characteristic spicy, toasty and cherry fruit flavours. Available in 1.5 Litre Magnum bottles. (6 x 1.5 Litres)
