Pinot Noir from 40 year old vines has the classic nose of game, earth and mushrooms. Showing anise flavours on the palate the notes of ground black pepper carry through to the long finish. Now in his early thirties, Vincent Dureuil has firmly established himself as one of the top three growers in Rully, where he is based. He is that rare thing, a winemaker equally at home with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. His whites are mineral and expressive without being lean, whilst his reds are juicy. Following his father's retirement at the end of 2002 Vincent has been able to double the size of his holdings to around 13 hectares. The result is whites whilst crisp and mineral, show a seductive amount of flesh, whilst his Pinots have a ripe, chewy quality, with mouth-watering acid balance, which promises exciting development with age. (12 x 75 cl)
