Chateau de Gueyze Buzet
Description: The Chateau de Gueyze is one of the jewels in the crown of Buzet, with its uninterrupted 78-ha vineyard. The range of flavours includes a hint of menthol and a touch of fresh eucalyptus. This dense, well-balanced wine is supported by light but supple tannins. 'Gueyze' is like 'Baise', it's a Gasconised Celtic word meaning, roughly, 'little river'. At the edge of the nearby heath, a tiny stream full of trout and shrimps is called 'the Gueyze'. In other words, water! How has a place with a watery name become the flagship 'terroir' for Buzet wines? It's one of the great mysteries of this marvellous soil! (6 x 75 cl)

Chateau du Cedre CUVEE PRESTIGE Cahors
Description: Pascal Verhaeghe has been the driving force behind the Cahors 'Quality Charter' and quality oozes from these wines. The estate was originally created by Charles Verhaeghe on vineyard land devastated by the frosts in 1956 in Vire-Sur- Lot. His sons Pascal and Jean-Marc duly studied winemaking, the former in Burgundy and California, the latter in Bordeaux. Ecological viticultural methods eschewing weedkillers and chemical fertilizers, yield reduction by serious pruning, leaf stripping for greater sun exposure and air circulation, harvesting the grapes on the verge of overripeness yield the superb raw material essential to create fabulous wines. In the cellars the Verhaeghes aim for softness, richness and harmony through gentle extraction by long vattings and limited pigeage, malolactic fermentation and sensible use of oak. Le Prestige is a big rich and elegant wine of outstanding quality, made from 90% Auxerrois and 10% Tannat it is intensly deep and brooding showing dark fruit and chewable tannins as the great texture and structure stand out. Hugely powerful yet trim, fragrant and fine in the mouth, with substantial tannin that is almost hidden by the intensity of fruit. This tannin doesn't just provide structure for the future, but a massive, velvety texture that can be appreciated now. (6 x 75 cl)
