Maison Bouachon ROQUEBRUSSANNE St Joseph
Description: The Bouachon family have maintained their stewardship of some of the finest wines in the Rhone since 1898. Maison Bouachon selects the finest terrains of the Rhône Valley for its wines, and for more than a century has enjoyed privileged links with the wine producers of this appellation. Facing the hillsides of Hermitage, spread over 40 kilometres, the vineyard of Saint Joseph is the largest on the right bank of the Northern Rhône. The terrain of Roquebrussane, given this nickname in the region to mean brown rock, is formed of steep shaley hills , enjoying exceptional sunshine and low yields. The vineyard has one single variety the fine-grained syrah of the North of the Rhône Valley that is very concentrated and aromatic. A fine robe of intense purple and a fruity bouquet of raspberry and blackcurrant, developing on notes of Underwood are the first things you notice about this wine. Full-bodied in the mouth, with aromas of ripe fruits, gingerbread, white pepper and tobacco, it has remarkable length in the mouth, developing into tertiary aromas of mint. (6 x 75 cl)

Paul Jaboulet Aine LE GRAND POMPEE Saint Joseph
Description: This 5 ha estate is located at Limony and Tournon, on a light soil of schist and gneiss on granite bedrock. Once in the winery this Shiraz wine will spend 9 months in oak casks to produce a deep ruby red with violet hues. The bouquet is both rich and concentrated showing very ripe red fruits, sweet spices and liquorice notes to finish. The palate is harmonious and frank with rounded tannins through to the long finish. The name of this Saint Joseph wine comes from Victor Hugo’s 'Legende des siecles': in the 9th century, the Grand Pompee, faithful companion to Charlemagne, fought at his side against the Moors, on the right bank of the Rhone. A famous line remains from this battle: 'and wine, that wine beloved of the Grand Pompee'. (12 x 75 cl)
