Low yields and a long cool ripening period in the King Valley during the summer of 1999, resulted in wines of great intensity and fruit character. Vibrant purple and red in colour, the 1999 Fighting Flat Shiraz has intense raspberry, clove and eucalypt fruit characters with a hint of chocolate and spice from 18 months French oak maturation. Raspberry, spices and plums add a sweet texture to the medium- to full-bodied palate. Integrated French oak contributes cedar and chocolate flavours and enhances the tight structure and long, gently tannic finish. This is a wine that will reward those with patience, however, for those who cannot wait, it is a perfect accompaniment to lamb shanks or mushroom risotto. (6 x 75 cl)
