Pighin Pinot Grigio del Collio DOC
Description: Pighin’s story begins in 1963, when brothers Luigi, Ercole and Fernando purchased a 200 hectare estate in Risano, in the Friuli Grave D.O.C. area, which belonged to a noble friulan family. Today, the company vinifies only grapes coming from its own estates at the cellars of Risano and Spessa that are equipped with the most modern and advanced technologies. The Collio vineyards used in making this wine are situated on the south facing slopes of the Gorizia hills, located on the most favourable and sunny hillsides. This Pinot Grigio is a brilliant straw yellow colour with amber reflections and a bouquet that is persistent and appealing, well pronounced, harmonious showing banana and toasted coffee. Fresh, dry, inviting and long lasting the well balanced body is harmonious, persistent, distinct and clear. (6 x 75 cl)

Bellanotte CONTE LUCIO Pinot Grigio Venezia Giulia IGT
Description: Bellanotte is an eight-hectare farm in the variegated terroirs of the Isonzo valley and Collio hills. The soil is mainly calcareous with the presence of red gravels and a layer of ferrous stone. The harvest is manual with careful bunch selection while in the winery a pre-fermentation cold maceration helps to extract the aromatic components of the grapes and an extended period in contact with the lees lends the wine its eventual softness and equilibrium. This is the true ramato Pinot Grigio with a light amber colour and a pearly sheen in the glass. The nose suggests hay, elderflower and tea rose, followed by red apple, with light tones of dried fruits and almonds. The fine acidity gives the wine sapidity and persistence. (6 x 75 cl)

Bressan Pinot Nero Farra d'Isonzo Gorizia Friuli
Description: The Bressan Mastri Vinai winery, located within the town of Mariano del Friuli in the Gorizia province, dates back to the 1600's. Their vineyards are drenched in rich Celtic history in the form of the strategic landscape of Farra d'Isonzo and the winemaking philosophy is founded on family values and a respect for the land and the ancient culture, where limpid horizons seem to capture sensations, colours, scents and flavours most effectively. Where the slopes of the Collio region fade gently and open up on to the Isonzo river valley these vineyards are located on a segment of land shielded to the north by the Julian Alps and open to the hot winds of the Adriatic Sea from the south, where a rare mixture of natural elements have combined to create a unique and inimitable "terroir." With this natural protection extreme climatic conditions are avoided, and moderate weather permits early development of the entire growing cycle by several days with respect to vineyards that are farther from the river, thus granting grapes with excellent levels of maturation. Fulvio Luca Bressan, a classically trained Bordeaux winemaker and descended from a family long dedicated to the vines, cuts no corners when it comes to making wine. Like many in Friuli, he's of the opinion that varietals such as Pinot Nero and Cabernet Sauvignon do not "belong" to the French, since those varietals have been cultivated by their ancestors since the early nineteenth century. He believes that these grapes have not only a home in Friuli, but can reflect in their quality and terroir that long history, and be among the finest in the world. For him, the fruit and its pips dictate readiness for harvest, and wood treatment should always reflect subtly in the finished juice. The Pinot Nero is ruby red, dry and aromatic, a veritable jewel of nuances, including smoked wood, truffle, raspberry and wild blackberry, revealing a bouquet of underbrush and musk when mature. (6 x 75 cl)

Bressan Verduzzo Friulano Farra d'Isonzo Gorizia Friuli
Description: The Bressan Mastri Vinai winery, located within the town of Mariano del Friuli in the Gorizia province, dates back to the 1600's. Their vineyards are drenched in rich Celtic history in the form of the strategic landscape of Farra d'Isonzo and the winemaking philosophy is founded on family values and a respect for the land and the ancient culture, where limpid horizons seem to capture sensations, colours, scents and flavours most effectively. Where the slopes of the Collio region fade gently and open up on to the Isonzo river valley these vineyards are located on a segment of land shielded to the north by the Julian Alps and open to the hot winds of the Adriatic Sea from the south, where a rare mixture of natural elements have combined to create a unique and inimitable "terroir." He believes that these grapes have not only a home in Friuli, but can reflect in their quality and terroir that long history, and be among the finest in the world. For him, the fruit and its pips dictate readiness for harvest, and wood treatment should always reflect subtly in the finished juice. Verduzzo was recognized in the mid-1800's as one of the most typical and representative of the varieties originating in Friuli. It is certainly a very old variety which was once very widespread and we even find it described in Acerbi's 'Friuli Vines of the Udine Area'. This is an emphatically dry wine, robust, with a bouquet which has strong accents of apple, pear, nectarine and apricot and a dry, almost tannic taste giving an almondy finish with hints of wild flowers. Princic Dario TREBEZ Vino Bianco Collio
Description: Princic's are totally unfiltered and minimally sulphured, they taste of the earth, of rock salts and bitter stony fruits, in other words edgily natural. Trebez is a triumphant triumvirate of Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay if not quark, strangeness and charm. This orange-rose wine is bone-dry with a hint of dried grape-skin and suggestion of butterscotch. (6 x 75 cl)
