After years of significant investment, technological improvements and the usual experience brought about by trial and error, Ca'del Bosco has won a reputation as one of the world's most prominent producers of not only fine sparkling wines, but also still wines. In 1998, Gambero Rosso, the leading authority on Italian wines, began referring to the estate as one of the few Stars in Italy, having won so many coveted Three Glasses awards. In 2002, the winery was named Winery of the Year byt the same publication. A blend of 75% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Bianco , 10% Pinot Nero , with a straw with greenish reflection appearance. This sparkling wine has an intense, very refined flower of a lime tree aroma, underlined by the smell of apple and peach. In 2002, the winery was named Winery of the Year byt the same publication. This 100% Pinot Nero is the bane and delight of some of the greatest winegrowers in the world. It is a difficult vine. It is a site specific grape, so it is only successful in a few areas of the world and, even then, not every year. Ca' del Bosco took up the challenge in 1983. In many blind tastings, carried out by great international experts, it has outclassed the big names from Burgundy. Pinero is elegance personified. The richness is striking and the range of varietal aromas and the citrus and jam notes highlight the sensations coming from the aging in barriques. This Pinot Noir is very particular, able to show strength and finesse. It shows originality, with well-combined richness, finesse and smoothness, matched with rare elegance. Extremely smooth to the taste, it leaves a lingering ripe fruit impression. (6 x 75 cl)

Contadi Castaldi Sparkling Brut Franciacorta
Description: Contadi Castaldi was founded in 1991 by Vittorio Moretti and in 1997 he passed the reins to Mario Falcetti, an expert agronomist and oenologist. In choosing the name, the company wished to keep ties with tradition alive: the Contadi were once the counties into which the lands of the Castaldi were divided – the Castaldi being noblemen who had the right to take the best produce from every harvest. Meanwhile, with its logo and the shape of the bottle, the company wanted to affirm the value of an innovative course of action that demonstrates its desire to offer a contemporary approach to the taste of the Franciacorta. Contadi Castaldi has its headquarters in Adro which, according to historical sources, is an open, light, calm place which 'burns' with life force. Adro is one of 19 municipalities in Franciacorta authorised by the Consortium for the cultivation and production of grapes for producing Franciacorta and Terre di Franciacorta wines. This wine is produced from a 60 hectares estate planted with 80% white grapes including Chardonnay, Pinot bianco as well as 20% red grapes such as Pinot Nero , Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Merlot, Nebbiolo and Barbera. The harvest is done manually with the grapes transferred to small boxes. Next, manual selection of grapes on special sorting table occurs while the objective of using very low technological impact in winemaking is evident through the moderate use of sulphur dioxide, use of the force of gravity to load presses.BR

Energetic notes in this Franciacorta are evident as this wine draws its character and colour from the virtues of the delicate grape skins of the Pinot Nero grape. Herbaceous, balsamic and refreshing notes reveal the audacious use of monovarietal Pinot Nero that delivers concentrated freshness and aroma. The finish unveils a pleasantly spicy undertone, with definite hints of chocolate and tobacco, almost evoking the mysterious energy of the maple woods that flourish on the high ground of Adro, where this Rose originates.

Ca' dei Frati PRATTO Lugana IGT Veneto
Description: The light golden colour gives way to perfumes of tropical fruit and a mineral hint characteristic of Ca’ dei Frati lead into a dry, rich palate. Made from 60% Lugana with 20% Sauvignon Blanc adding a perfumed lift to the blend, the remaining 20% Chardonnay fruit rounds out the palate, giving it depth and weight. The oak ageing adds a touch of spice to the lingering tropical fruit finish. Ca’ dei Frati remains the best producer in Lugana. The secret to their success is simple: outstanding vineyards. Vines are trained low, newer vineyards have a higher density of planting, and yields are well below the average for the zone. The quality of the fruit is accentuated in the modern winery, where Igino Dal Cero is not afraid to lose straightforward, primary perfumes if he gains weight, texture and complexity on the palate by allowing some of the vats to go through malolactic fermentation. This distinguishes theirs from many other Italian whites, and results in a wine with the sort of fullness and length that would, if produced in Friuli, fetch twice the price it currently does. The Dal Cero family has transformed their Ca’ dei Frati property into a model Italian estate over the past decade. When we first began buying their wines in 1987, they had just 12 hectares of grapes while today, they have vineyards covering 50 hectares, including I Frati in Sirmione, San Rocco in Pozzolengo, Ronchedone in Desenzano del Garda, La Tur in Desenzano del Garda and Rovizza Alta in Peschiera del Garda. This increase in quantity has been matched by an increase in quality, and today they are the best in Lugana and work tirelessly to position themselves as one Italy’s best white wine producers. Ca'Montebello Rosso Pinot Nero Oltrepo Pavese Lombardia DOC
Description: Pinot nero is one of the greatest red grape vines that have found favourable position on the hills of Oltrepo, though the production is scarce, the quality is excellent. After a careful examination of the indications of ripeness, the grapes are harvested by hand, undergoing a further selection. After being stripped of the stalk and pressed, the grapes are then subjected to a process of maceration which lasts between eight and ten days, depending on the distinctive features of the vintage year; this process takes place in stainless steel tanks, with frequent repassing of must over the grape dregs. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred into barrels where it is refined, and then poured into bottles. This interesting Pinot nero appears immediately inviting with its dark red, almost impenetrable colour. The winy scents open on fruity notes of blackberries and raspberries. The wine offers abalanced, well-rounded mouthfeel, pleasantly silky and fresh. (6 x 75 cl)
