Description: The Blend, a mini Super Tuscan, is a blend of 40% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot and 30% Syrah, all vinified separately and then blended together. The colour and soft tannins come from ripe grapes being given a cold soak prior to fermentation as well as from the oak treatment the wines undergo. The winemaker is looking for complexity from the Sangiovese, a juiciness from the Syrah and softness and roundness from the Merlot. (12 x 75 cl)

Querciabella is a Chianti Classico DOCG that presently produces four wines from the vineyards of its Chianti Classico estate in Greve in Chianti. Batar is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc; Chianti Classico; Camartina a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon while Palafreno, a new release, is a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese. Great care is taken in producing this wine from the separate pressing, fermentation and elevage of the Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay grapes; through to the barrel maturation that takes 9 to 12 months in French oak, 50% new and 50% one year old, that comes mainly from Troncais and Vosges, as well as from Allier. The final blending takes place in stainless steel, the wine is then bottled shortly after, and rests for about six months before release. This blend of 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Blanc is a pale yellow coloured wine with floral and herb aromas. Showing white fruit flavours, cream and a little minerality this is a rich sophisticated wine with an enjoyable finish. Additionally: Between 1988 and 1991 the wine used to be called Batard-Pinot, and it was a blend of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Between 1992 and 1994, the name was Batard , because Chardonnay had been added to the blend. Since 1995, the name has been changed to Batar, in order to avoid confusion with French AOCs of Burgundy whose name contains the word 'Batard' . Magnum bottles available in Original Wooden Case. Palafreno, the first new release from Querciabella in fifteen years, is a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese from some of the best vineyards of the estate in Greve in Chianti. Rich, deep, and elegant, it needs to be decanted, and left 'breathing' for at least one hour to be enjoyed at its best. Its name is an ancient Italian word designating a noble riding horse used by medieval knights for travel, parades or tournaments. Great care is taken from the vineyard to the winery when producing this blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Sangiovese which is released no sooner than 26 months after harvest. This wine is dominated by blackberry and vanilla on the nose while showing good concentration and depth on the palate, balanced acidity and enjoyable finish. Available in Magnum bottles. Description: The name Rocca delle Macie is synonymous with quality and good value. The company was started by film-maker, Italo Zingarelli, in 1973. He began with one hectare of vineyard and out of sheer enthusiasm for winemaking, developed the business, acquiring two prestigious estates, and now cultivates 300ha of vineyards. The winery is now in the hands of the son, Sergio, who, like his father, lays great importance on the careful selection of grape varieties, careful pruning and the use of organic fertilisers to enhance the maximum ripening of the fruit. Tuscan Trebbiano , Chardonnay and a little Pinot Grigio make up the fruit that go into this wine.
