A cooler climate example of Shiraz from Margaret River with historic connections to ancient Persia and indigenous roots in the Rhone valley since Roman times, Shiraz has an impressive past. Nonetheless its greatest attraction is as a wine of ubiquitous appeal. The Stella Bella Shiraz is a warm, expansive and lusciously fruity red wine. Filled with the aromas of poached dark-fleshed plums, fruit muffins, sweet spice as well as bursting with flavours of spiced fruit compote, chocolate fudge with hints of cedar and vanilla. To finish, the open knit tannin structure plays a balanced and supportive role to such a generously proportioned wine. (12 x 75 cl)

Here the converging power of the Southern and Indian oceans, provide a cool maritime climate characterised by drenching winter rains and long dry summers cooled by omnipresent sea breezes. In the north-east facing shelter of the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge and the Blackwood River, nature provided a unique viticultural mesoclimate for the Suckfizzle wines. Only two wines are made in the small vineyard. The white is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, the percentages a reflection of seasonal fortune. In style, the wine takes its cue from the very great wines of the Bordeaux appellation Pessac Leognan but showcases the inimitable Augusta style. The red is pure Cabernet Sauvignon (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Vasse Felix was the first commercial vineyard and winery to be established in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. The vineyard took its unusual name from an early event in the district. Vasse was a French seaman who drowned last century when his longboat overturned near the site of Busselton while exploring the coastline on the ship 'Geographe' under Captain Freycinet. Paradoxically, Felix is the Latin word for fortunate or luck. Thus the name refers to a favoured place in Australia discovered by the French. This wine displays a fine, deep crimson colour with royal purple hues. A complex aroma of mulberries, fruit jubes, bay leaf and dusty Cabernet is intertwined with spicy oak. The palate is soft and rich with fine emery-like tannins and a crisp tang reflecting itÕs cool climate origins. Flavours of stewed rhubarb and cranberries leave a lasting impression long after the last sip.

Description: Vasse Felix has been crafting Chardonnay since 1990. The aim has always been to produce a fruit driven style with subtle oak and yeast influences. The grapes are sourced from long-term contract growers throughout Western Australia. The climatic and clonal differences allow different parcels of fruit to be fermented separately in predominantly new French oak barriques. All the barrels are fermented in coolrooms at 120C to preserve the fruit flavours in the wine. The final blending occurs 11 months later with a portion of 'unoaked' Chardonnay, producing a wine of subtle oak complexity, length and mouth filling flavour.

The palate fruit profile is exactly as the wine smells and provides good fruit depth and ripeness. Full bodied, supple, soft, well structured and balanced by the firm yet velvety tannin profile, the oak tannins provide subtle, grainy textures on the finish and overall added length and complexity.
