Chateau d'Aussieres AUSSIERES Blanc Vin de Pays de Languedoc
Description: Owner of Chateau Lafite Rothschild for five generations, the Rothschild family has been based in this Bordeaux vineyard since 1868. High values and respect of traditional methods make them passionate about harmony and excellence in the wines they produce. Their wines are a witness to that passion year after year and their skills have patiently enriched the wines through the generations, with world-renowned success. Domain Baron de Rothschild skills have served other exceptional Bordeaux wines and vineyards, which share the same values of humility and high standards. Over the years, Domain Baron de Rothschild has expanded its offerings through the acquisition of Chateau Duhart-Milon, 4th growth wine from Pauillac, of Chateau Rieussec, 1er growth Sauternes wines, of Chateau l'Evangile in Pomerol, of Chateau Paradis Casseuil in Entre-Deux-Mers and of Chateau Peyre-Lebade, Bordeaux wines in Haut Medoc. Recently, Domain Baron de Rothschild, in 1999, purchased Chateau d'Aussieres. Aussieres’s Chardonnay is a limited production of only a few hectares, with the aim to produce a fresh, delicate wine with harmonious fruity aromas. Located on the coldest part of the vineyard, the parcels are cultivated using modern methods: cover crop between rows to help control vine vigour and drip irrigation in order to optimise the ripening of the grapes in a region where summer drought can sometimes cause great damage. Very attractive pale bright yellow coloured wine with an intense nose of citrus fruit, with notes of exotic fruits (12 x 75 cl) Price: £110.14

Baron Philippe de Rothschild MOUTON CADET Reserve Graves Blanc Description: This blend of Semillon , Sauvignon and Muscadelle has a brilliant pale gold colour, with a slightly greenish hue. The nose opens on attractive white peach and candied lemon aromas with subtler notes of jasmine blossom. A round and fruity attack on the palate lengthens on the more mineral notes typical of the appellation. The long and succulent finish underlines the richness of flavour and elegance of this white Graves.. Since 1933 Baron Philippe de Rothschild, located at Pauillac in the Medoc, has been motivated by a constant ambition: to make the world's finest wines, each in its own category, whether the chateaux wines for which it is responsible – the renowned Chateau Mouton Rothschild, a First Growth, and its distinguished lieutenants, Chateau Clerc Milon and Chateau d'Armailhac – or branded wines, like the famous Mouton Cadet or the Mouton Cadet Reserve range . Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA has also exported its know-how beyond Bordeaux: to the Pays d'Oc, with a range of varietal wines and, more recently, Domaine de Baron'arques; to California, with Opus One; and to Chile, with Almaviva. One of the key factors behind the company's undisputed success is the art of blending, which it practises with exceptional skill and this is reflected in the Mouton Cadet Reserve range. Chateau Rieussec CARMES DE RIEUSSEC Sauternes AC
Description: The second wine of Chateau Rieussec Carmes de Rieussec is selected according to the same standards as the first wine. Its constant feature is centred on a fine aromatic structure dominated by citrus aromas. The name, Carmes de Rieussec, relates to the monks of the Carmes de Langon, who were owners of the Rieussec estate in the 18th century. A blend of Semillon 85%, Sauvignon Blanc 10% and a little Muscadelle 5% this wine has spent 18 months in barrel. This is an intense golden yellow coloured wine that is showing preserved fruit on the nose, with hints of apricot. The nose develops on the palate as the range of flavours deliver a harmonious well-rounded first impression. In the 18th century, the Rieussec estate belonged to the Carmes de Langon monks. The confiscation of the estate during the revolution led to its public sale around 1790 as an 'object of national heritage' to Mr. Marheilhac, the period’s owner of Château La Louvière at Leognan. For the 1855 classification, M. Mayne was the owner of the estate. The quality of the Rieussec soil earned its ranking as a first growth Sauternes and Barsac. After that date, Rieussec’s history involves many change of owners. Acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 1984 the estate then included 110 hectares of which 68 hectares were vineyards. To enhance Chateau Rieussec’s potential, stern measures were implemented, including meticulous sorting of seeds and fermenting in barrels, which provides a superior selection for blending fine wines as well as a new chai being built to extend ageing in barrels. Available in 37.5 cl Half Bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl) Price: £264.17

Quinta do Carmo Quinta do Carmo BLANCO Alentejano Portugal
Description: Owner of Chateau Lafite Rothschild for five generations, the Rothschild family has been based in this Bordeaux vineyard since 1868. High values and the respect of traditional methods make them passionate about harmony and excellence. Their wines bear witness to that passion year after year and their skills have patiently enriched the wines through the generations, with world-renowned success. Over the years, Domain Baron de Rothschild has expanded its offerings through the acquisition of several french Chateau's as well as ventures in Argentina. However, in 1992, Julio Bastos, owner of Quinta do Carmo called on Domaines Barons de Rothschild in order to renovate the property. The primary goal was to combine the traditional Alentejo winemaking techniques with the skill of the DBR teams and also unite the expression of traditional portuguese grape varieties with other new and noble varieties thus enhancing complexity and elegance. The plan has led to new plantations and the renovation of the vineyards, including systematic tying up of the vines and a limitation of yields. Major investments were also made in the Herdade das Carvalhas chais, including a new cellar, the purchase of stainless steel vats with temperature monitoring and pneumatic presses. Now integrated into Domaines Barons de Rothschild , Quinta do Carmo features a 150 hectare vineyard that is gradually reaching maturity. This renewal has done much to enhance the wines, and the first vintages under the new management reveals clearly the excellent combination of the 'Terroir' and the 'savoir faire!' Quinta do Carmo blanc has benefitted from the soil while the blend of Roupeiro, Arinto, Perrum, and Fernao Pires has produced a fresh and fruity wine of complexity and elegance.
