Description: The famous old Rioja house, named after the small hill outside Fuenmayor, received a new lease of life when it was bought in 1973 by the Osborne Group. Vast investments in a new winery and new storage have been made. The intention was, and remains, the production of the highest quality Rioja combining the best of modern and traditional practices. Montecillo Blanco is fresh and fruity in the modern style and made entirely from Viura. All of Montecillo's red wines are made only with Tempranillo. In particularly favourable years a special selection of Tempranillo is made for vinification, prolonged ageing and eventual release as Gran Reserva Especial. Once in the winery fermentation takes place at 28º C and Maceration the last 28 days, followed by 24 months in oak and 48 months in bottle. Redish-garnet colour this wine is complex on the nose. Description: Founded in 1877 by the Martinez Berberana family in Olauri , Berberana continues to combine new technologies with tradition to produce wines of great character. A blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha this wine is kept in vats for a period of 12 months in order to fully stabilise and is then transferred to oak casks for its ageing. The Gran Reservas are then kept in American oak casks for a period of 36 months depending on the particular vintage, type of wine and the final decision of the wine-maker before being bottled. Deep ruby red coloured wine with tawny hues this Gran Reserva has a subtle aroma derived from oak and bottle ageing.
