Principe Pallavicini TIASO Sangiovese IGT Lazio
Description: The Pallavicini family have been in Lazio since the second half of the 17th Century, and as such their story is linked with that of the region in a range of agricultural activities. The vineyards are situated in the picturesque hills south of Rome and on the Mediterranean coast next to the Tuscan border. There are currently 78 ha under vine but, due to strong demand from abroad for the wines, expansion is currently taking place. The sites are meticulously matched to the grape varieties, which is a mix of both traditional and international varietals. Among the principle white varieties can be found: Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Greco, Grechetto, Bonvino. While, the red cultivars include: Sangiovese, Cesanese, Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Montepulciano, Ciliegiolo and Petit Verdot. Today the traditions of the Pallavicini estate have been merged with the latest oenological practises ensuring the highest standard of wine production. The grapes are handled with great care as the 25 year old Sangiovese vines are managed to deliver reduced yields, undergo a prolonged maceration with the skins; and finally aged in cask. This care has produced an international styled wine, smooth with pretty berry and floral flavours leading to a velvety mouth feel while the tangy acidity keeps it fresh. (12 x 75 cl)

Jackson Wine Estates STONESTREET Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley California
Description: J. Stonestreet & Sons Vineyard & Winery began in the autumn of 1989 when Jess Jackson purchased a small vineyard and winery in the rolling hills bordering southern Alexander Valley. He named the winery in honor of his late father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson, and dedicated it to the task of handcrafting wines using traditional methods while showcasing modern techniques. Stonestreet quickly garnered international acclaim for powerful red and luscious white wines. Following this early success, Jess Jackson acquired the nearby Alexander Mountain Estate in 1995 and focused Stonestreet on mountain wines, particularly the Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, in addition to small amounts of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from older vineyards on the mountain. Retaining the intense mountain flavours and colour from mountain fruit demands special care. A pre-fermentation cold-soak extracted fruit flavours while minimising tannin extraction. Separate lots were then fermented at warm temperatures with either native or cultured yeast for a total of about three weeks total skin contact time. Ageing was done in thin-stave French oak barrels, coopered to Stonestreet's specifications. This served to further integrate tannins and fruit while maintaining a balanced structure. A regimen of quarterly racking with light aeration and egg white fining naturally clarified the wine and further developed the nuanced complexity and supple tannins. This wine is well-balanced with a particularly lush mid-palate and dark ruby-purple colour. An elegant structure supports layers of spicy blackberry/cassis fruit along with hints of chocolate and coffee. (12 x 75 cl)

Christopher’s Cabernet Sauvignon illustrates the colour and flavour intensity of Alexander Mountain Estate fruit. Vineyards for this Christopher’s Cabernet Sauvignon are 2,400 feet above sea level. Lean, rocky, and well-draining soil and cooler temperatures have lower yields and produce smaller grape clusters and berries. This smaller fruit contains deep, vivid color and rich, rewarding flavour. The resulting wine is deep and concentrated displaying rich varietal characteristics of dark berry and cassis with hints of spice and chocolate on the nose. (6 x 75 cl)

Zandvliet Estate ENON QUE SERA Shiraz Robertson RSA
Description: Zandvliet was proclaimed as a 5000 hectare farm in 1838, along with the rest of the Robertson district at that time, being granted to a Van Zyl and a Balthazar Kloppers. Jacobus Stephanus de Wet bought the property in 1867. Upon his death, the farm was subdivided into Zandvliet, Prospect and Excelsior, with Paul de Wet buying what is now the family farm. Today, over 130 years later, the fourth generation, Paul and Dan, are the proud custodians of this magnificent family heritage, Zandvliet. In its long history as a De Wet family legacy, although always a wine farm, Zandvliet in turn became well-known as an ostrich farm, famous as a racehorse-breeding stud, and now respected as a wine estate specialising in the growing and making of fine Shiraz wines. Zandvliet Wine Estate is found in the scenic Robertson Valley, not far from Ashton. The vineyards straddle the Cogmans River, with the great Langeberg Mountains throwing a giant arm around it from the north and disappearing to the south-east. Here the vineyards benefit from a small range of low limestone hills with its highly prized kalkveld terroir. Grown mostly on the gravel and clay limestone slopes, the red varieties comprise Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while Chardonnay, Colombard, Sauvignon and Chenin make up the whites. Currently there is an equal split between red and white plantings. Being in a semi-arid region, Zandvliet's vineyards rely on summer-long watering. Working in conjunction with world-renowned viticulturist, Dr Phillip Freese from Sonoma, California, the vineyard director Dan de Wet is able to regulate the growth of the vine to produce the finest possible fruit by scientifically withholding and supplying water to the vine during its growth period. This 100% Shiraz is a dark, ruby red colour with red fruit and cherry aromas that are well integrated with hints of oak. This complex shiraz is a smooth wine with spicy flavours as well as red fruits and liquorice culminating in a long enjoyable finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Jackson Wine Estates STONESTREET Sauvignon Blanc Alexander Valley
Description: J. Stonestreet & Sons Vineyard & Winery began in the autumn of 1989 when Jess Jackson purchased a small vineyard and winery in the rolling hills bordering southern Alexander Valley. The Upper Barn name comes from its historical use as the place where horses were changed when crossing over Alexander Mountain Estate and the Mayacamas Mountains and at 1,800 feet above sea level, the vineyard is an impressive site. With its dramatic views, shallow gravelly soils and cool climate, this seven-acre vineyard consistently produces low yields of intense, mineral-laden Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes for the Upper Barn Sauvignon Blanc were harvested with flavours of grapefruit and ripe melon. After pressing, the juice was barrel fermented to add spicy oak characteristics and a lush palate. This wine did not receive malolactic fermentation or stirring of lees. Crisp fruit flavours of ripe melon, fig, lemon and grapefruit complemet the medium to full-bodied style of this well made Sauvignon Blanc. (6 x 75 cl)
