Vines have been grown at Chateau La Gaffeliere since Gallo-Roman times, as attested by a villa from this period discovered by Count Leo de Malet Roquefort. His family have owned and managed this chateau for four centuries giving them a richer and longer history than any other winegrowers in Saint-Emilion. The current owner makes use of this experience to renovate every now and then but also to perpetuate the traditions that have made La Gaffeliere famous worldwide. The wine is a deep ruby-red colour and it has a rich and complex bouquet with hints of blackcurrant and truffle. 18-20 months in new barrels. "...a compressed but alluring, medium bodied, finesse-filled format...pretty fruit and a dry, crisp finish. Anticipated maturity, 2000-2010." Parker, 87. (12 x 75 cl)

La Cave Du Vin Blanc De Morgex et DeLa Salle CHAUDE LUNE VINDE GLACE Vallee D'Aosta
Description: The region of Valle d'Aosta has an ancient history of winemaking, even though the steep mountain slopes and harsh, cold climate might suggest otherwise. Historically however, wine production from the region was confined to individual 'backyard vineyards' of usually no more than 2,500 square meters. In 1983, thanks in part to the efforts of the region's local government, these efforts were officially acknowledged and the Cooperative estate, Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et deLa Salle, was born. This cooperative took control of its newly built winery, well-equipped with all the technology needed to produce high-quality fine wines and began producing the region's traditional wine varieties. The local growers of the co-op are for the most part retired persons who tend their vines as they would a garden, following specific guidelines set up by the cooperative itself. Today the Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et deLa Salle produces over 140,000 bottles annually of 5 different traditional Valle D'Aosta wines. This unfailing commitment to the Valle D'Aosta wine-making has literally saved the region's history and culture from extinction, making these beautiful wines, and a part of Valle D'Aosta's culture. Available in 50 cl bottles. (12 x 50 cl) Price: £273.38
