Te Mata COLERAINE Cabernet Merlot Hawke's Bay NZ
Description: Coleraine derives its name from the Coleraine vineyard, home of John & Wendy Buck of Te Mata Estate. John's late grandfather came from Coleraine in Northern Ireland and the name has been maintained through the family properties to the wine. The first Coleraine was made from the 1982 vintage and created an instant sensation within New Zealand for unsurpassed quality. Originally a single vineyard wine, from 1989 Coleraine has been an assemblage of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc wines produced from thirty plots within Te Mata Estate's nine Hawke's Bay vineyards. This wine has a saturated magenta colour and aromas of blackcurrants, very ripe cherries and marzipan. Perfectly ripe and floral, it shows flavours of brambly blackcurrants and dark cherry syrup with hints of rosemary. The palate is powerful and very elegant with fine grained tannins leading to a long, firm finish (6 x 75 cl)

Fairview Sauvignon Blanc Malmesbury RSA
Description: The grapes used in the wine are from an old block of unirrigated bush-vines in Malmesbury. The yield was extremely low, and the fruit very good quality. Here te Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested in stages to achieve a crisper varietally true Sauvignon, with a full mid-palate, then in the winery destemmed, crushed and held in the drainer overnight. The juice was then cold fermented, and left on its lees for 5 months before bottling. This has produced a pale straw coloured wine showing an intense gooseberry and nettlea nose. The palate combines the good varietal flavours with a long enjoyable finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Beringer STONE CELLARS Sauvignon Blanc California
Description: When making the Stone Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, Winemaker Mary Sullivan focused on retaining the bright crisp fruit flavors of Sauvignon Blanc and highlighting the wine with subtle undertones of toasty vanilla and rich creamy peaches. In the final blend, Mary chose to complement the green apple and crisp citrus of the Sauvignon Blanc with approximately nine-percent Semillon for depth, complexity, and fullness with slight amounts of Gewürztraminer for a floral and spice notes and Chenin Blanc for a peachy softness. To round out the flavors with toasty, spice nuances, she barrel fermented a portion of the wine in French and American oak barrels for approximately two months. (12 x 75 cl)
