Description: The members of the Giuseppe Mascarello family have been growing wines for more than a century and a half, first as farmers running the Manescotto estate in the village of LaMorra for the marchesa Giulia Colbert Faletti di Barolo, and then on their own property since the late 1800s. Barolo Monprivato is only produced in great vintages, in quantities varying between 14 and 24 thousand bottles compared to an annual production potential of 41,000. After saying that the wine is matured in non-new casks of Slavonian oak with capacities varying from 20 to 90 hectolitres, and then undergoes a lengthy, soft maceration that can last up to 40 days in certain vintages. Sharing the characteristic of many of the other Mascarello wine it is a garnet red colour with orange-coloured highlights. The nose is both complex and fruity, elegant, intense and spicy, with flowery sensations. An excellent body with power and stuffing, demanding, masculine, long and full. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £411.26

Description: It was the vine-tender Giuseppe Mascarello who began the family business back in 1881, in the village of Monforte d'Alba, where he purchased a site in Regione Pian della Polvere. Today, the family still run this well respected winery producing great wines that are a real reflection of the region. This Nebbiolo wine is matured in medium-sized Slavonian oak barrels for around 14 months and is a garnet red colour with purplish highlights.
