Trinity Hill Hawke's Bay Chardonnay NZ DUPLICATE
Description: Hawkes Bay has a unique micro climate where vines reach deep into the stony, free draining soil of the old Ngaruroro riverbed, sheltered from the prevailing Westerly winds, basking in an abundance of dry, warm weather. At Trinity Hill's Gimblett Road Vineyards, the river stones gently release their heat long after the sun has set. This helps to promote perfect ripening of the grapes. Vines are planted, trained and pruned to expose as much leaf and fruit to sunlight as possible. North-South planted vine rows allow the mid day sun to warm the ground between rows, while removal of shoots and flowers early in the season reduces the crop level and opens the vine out to light and air. Using these techniques, the winegrowers at Trinity Hill grow moderate crops to consistently produce concentrated flavour and colour intensity in the finished wine. Typical fruit characters from Hawkes Bay Chardonnay such as grapefruit and melon are supplemented by biscuity barrel ferment characters with a light butteriness from the malolactic fermentation. The wine is rich and round, with soft acidity and attractive sweet fruit. (12 x 75 cl)

Trinity Hill GIMBLETT GRAVELS Syrah Hawke's Bay NZ
The handpicked grapes were gently destemmed and lightly crushed to leave a large portion of uncrushed berries. Fermentation took place in a closed stainless steel fermenter and the cap was pumped over twice daily with light aeration for optimum color and tannin extraction. An extended post-fermentation maceration complexes the tannins, softening and stabilising the wine. The wine was subsequently aged in a mixture of new and older French and American oak barriques. Malolactic fermentation took place in the barrel. Regular racking for clarification and controlled introduction of oxygen to the wine was introduced. The wine was blended after 14 months oak aging and bottled in late-September 2001, without fining but with light filtration. The colour is a deep, vibrant crimson. Blackberry, black pepper, savoury and spice elements are prominent. Multi-layered complexity is the aim. Powerful but ripe and round tannins give the wine great structure. Oak aging plays a minor part and the wine lives on its fruit. Combined with the good acidity, these characteristics mean excellent aging potential. Development of mineral, earthy and tarry characters likely during bottle aging, resulting in a wine that is distinctly Northern Rhone-like rather than resembling any thing Australian. (12 x 75 cl)

Wente SOUTHERN HILLS Cabernet Sauvignon San Fransisco Bay California
Description: Our Vineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon has lush flavors of cherry and plum, with hints of cedar and violets in the nose. The tannins are smooth, making this a great pair with roasted and grilled meats, or fuller flavored fish such as salmon and Ahi tuna. Vineyard: The present generation of Livermore Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was developed from vines that California wine pioneer Charles Wetmore brought from France in the 19th century. The Wente family farms approximately 400 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards matched to the soils and mesoclimates with rootstocks and clones selected for each site. The climate of the Livermore Valley is ideal for growing red Bordeaux varieties with its long growing season that develops ripe, round fruit flavors. Fermentation: Each vineyard was harvested separately and fermented in upright fermenters. Rack and return was performed twice daily. Rack and return is the process of draining all of the free-run juice off of the cap, then pumping the free-run juice back over the top of the fermenter. This method increases color and tannin extraction and improving mouthfeel through the integration of oxygen. Aging: Each lot of wine was aged separately for 13 months in a combination of new and used French and American oak. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Pesquie TERRASSES Rouge Rhone Valley Vineyards Ventoux
Description: This blend of 70 % Grenache and 30 % Syrah is a dark red colour showing a nose that blossoms into jammy berry aromas set off by a touch of spice. This medium to full-bodied wine with a powerful mouthfeel is showing elegant and onctuous tannins, enhanced by very round cherry and black current notes and finishing with spicy flavours. This wines name comes from the Latin terras, meaning 'lump of earth'. The Cotes du Ventoux region is characterised by alternating hills and valleys. To make the most of this exceptional terroir, grape growers and other farmers had to accomplish the colossal feat of building 'terraces' into the steep hillsides, choosing especially well-protected, sunny locations. Still today, the Provence countryside boasts centuries-old olive trees planted on terraces called restanques or rebanques in Provencal. Paul and Edith Chaudiere chose this name in homage to the Provence countryside terraces their ancestors carved into carefully chosen sites. The sleepy village of Mormoiron was certainly shaken up when the dynamic Chaudiere family bought Chateau Pesquie and set about making wine to a level that had never before been achieved in the Ventoux. Paul Chaudiere is keen on technology, but also devoted to quality. He employs new methods to produce wines of simply stunning quality from his 72 hectares, with richness, colour and concentration that his neighbours can only dream of. Ambition seems to have been coupled perfectly with both an innate winemaking ability and a rare understanding of the market ensuring that this family domaine produces wines of great quality that people want to drink. 'One of the superstar estates of the Cotes-du-Ventoux', according to Robert Parker. (12 x 75 cl)

Stellenzicht STELLENZICHT Syrah Stellenbosch RSA
Description: Known initially as Rustenberg and later Alphen, this vineyard at one time belonged to the Baimsfather-Cloete family who produced the famous Constantia wines. In 1981 the estate was acquired by Hans-Joachim Schreiber who renamed it Stellenzicht or in its literal translation 'View of Stellen' . Matured in oak this Syrah displays intense ruby rich hues with a distinct, youthful purple tinge and opaque centre. A rich complexity of mocha and dark chocolate aromas combines with the spicy sweetness of ripe plims and toasted oak; while cinnamon and cloves round off the sweetish fruit aromas. Full-bodied yet succulent with firm, soft tannins resulting in a perfectly balanced acidity this is a wine to enjoy through to the enjoyable finish. Situated midway between the Helderberg Mountain and False Bay, lies an exceptional tract of land that benefits from a terroir eminently suited to the cultivation of the highest quality wine grapes. This jewel in the crown of the magnificent Stellenbosh wine-growing area is known as the Golden Triangle. At its core lies Stellenzicht where this wonderful wine gets its grapes. The single vineyard, planted in 1989, is situated on the slopes facing west and north-west in soils originating from decomposed granite, at an altitude of 120 m above sea-level. This vineyard block is affectionately known as 'Plum Pudding Hill' as it consistently produces fruit of high quality and ripeness. The grapes were harvested by hand and after destalking and crushing, the mash was fermented in two separate batches in stainless steel tanks at 28°C, with differing selected pure yeast cultures . The juice was removed from the skins after five days. Once malolactic fermentation was completed the wine was left to mature in a combination of French , American and Hungarian oak for a period of 19 months before bottling. (6 x 75 cl)

Description: The Goriska Brda wine cellar was built in 1957 and is a great viticultural region. Turner TINPOT HUT Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc NZ
Description: The Tinpot Hut Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a concentrated and complex wine with powerful passionfruit and blackcurrant flavours, with underlying grapefruit and mineral notes. This wine is pleasingly rich and powerful with a well balanced acidity that leads to a long lingering finish. Winemaker Fiona Turner has worked with Matt Thomson on many of the most successful wines made in Marlborough. The tinpot hut that gave its name to Fiona’s brand is an old mustering hut in the remote hills between the Wairau and Awatere Valleys. These huts were used as a base for musterers, who were responsible for rounding up the sheep that had been in the hills from spring to autumn and bringing them down to the low paddocks for the winter. Fiona sourced the fruit primarily from her own vineyard in Blind River and combined it with grapes from some other carefully selected sites in Marlborough. After juice clarification, the wine was inoculated with pure, aromatic yeast strains and cool fermented. Once dry the wine was stabilised, filtered and bottled. (6 x 75 cl)

Ca' Rugate CAMPO LAVEI Valpolicella Superiore DOC
Description: Ca’ Rugate established by the Tessari family in 1986 has a great deal of respect for tradition and a passion for viticulture, inspired by firm convinction that the quality first is created in the vineyard and then in the cellar. Cà Rugate takes the name from the hill of volcanic origin, at the centre of the Soave Classico area, in which its vineyards are positioned. The soft inclinations of those hills were always adapted to create great wines because of their fantastic position, special microclima and special soil composition. The Estate covers 30 ha of Ca’Rugate, 25 ha around monforte d’apone and 5 ha around montecchia di crosara, in the region of Valpolicella. In the vineyard, they use modern pruning techniques, along with careful canopy management and green pruning; while the latest vinification techniques bring out distinctive aromas and refined flavours in the wines. The Campo Lavei vineyard on the hills of Montecchia di Crosara gives its name to this wine and is a blend of 40% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 30% Corvinone. Harvested at the beginning of October, some of the grapes are set aside to dry in wooden trays until the end of December. The undried grapes are destemmed and fermented straight after the harvest. The dried grapes are added later and allowed to ferment in stainless steel for a week before pressing at the end of December. The wine is then transferred into small barrels to finish fermentation and then mature in wood for 8 to10 months. This is a deep ruby red coloured wine with intense aromas of black fruit and cherries, and a twist of spice from the wood. This is followed by a mellow rounded palate with elegant tannin balance and nice finish. (6 x 75 cl)
