GRAPE SOURCE 88.0% Russian River Valley 12.0% Mendocino County BLEND 100% Chardonnay WINEMAKING Cool, handpicked grapes were barrel fermented in 100% French Oak . Partial malolactic fermentation allowed the wine to retain the natural crisp acidity of the Russian River Valley fruit. Extended sur lie contact added to further balance the natural acidity of the fruit with a creamy texture. The wine remained in barrel for five months prior to bottling and was aged for one year prior to release. (12 x 75 cl)

De Loach Pinot Noir RussianRiverValley California
Description: To create the RussianRiverValley Pinot Noir, grapes were hand-harvested from DeLoach vineyards. Crafted using traditional Burgundian techniques, including fermentation in small tanks, hand punch-downs and ageing in 60-gallon French oak barrels, this Pinot Noir is an elegant example of this varietal. The cool, foggy RussianRiverValley climate allows for slow ripening, enabling the grapes to develop full flavour maturation over an extended time. As a result this wine offers classic RussianRiverValley aromas of cola with dark fruit and notes of barrel spice. Flavours of black cherry, violet and a note of cinnamon unfold on the palate as the silky smooth, supple finish glides across the palate. The RussianRiverValley has come to be known as 'America's Burgundy,' and DeLoach is proud to have been an important factor in this distinction. Purchased by Boisset in 2003 and the appointment of new winemaker Greg La Follette marked the start of their return to form for DeLoach. Greg is a Pinot specialist, as his background would suggest, and these are the wines that are the most distinctive in the De Loach range. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £168.62

De Loach Chardonnay RussianRiverValley California
Description: Ambrosial scents greet you from the glass; ripe fruit flavours of Bartlett pear, Macintosh apple and Meyer lemon offer substantial counterpoints to beautifully suggestive French oak components of cinnamon, nutmeg, and hazelnut. This mouthwatering wine shows a delightful complexity, while the rich, creamy mid-palate is framed by a well-balanced acid tannin structure leading to a brilliant clean finish that leaves you wanting more. Carefully tended vines yield fruit of exemplary quality and this white wine it is a pure expression of RussianRiverValley terroir. The juice was fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. The barrel fermented portion of wine was then aged for 8 months in French oak to produce an intricately layered wine with delicate nuances of fruit and oak. Simi Winery GOLDFIELDS VINEYARD Chardonnay Reserve RussianRiverValley California
Description: The cool climate of the RussianRiverValley contributes to Simi's Reserve Chardonnay. The influence of the Pacific Ocean gives the RussianRiverValley a long, extended and very moderate growing season. The location of Simi's Goldfields vineyard is perfectly situated within the heart of the RussianRiverValley, close enough to the coast the get the benefits of the cool fog, and inland enough to ensure the vineyard will get the degree days that allow the Chardonnay to ripen to perfection every vintage. When Simi planted the Goldfields Vineyard in 1989, Simi opted for field selections rather than the heat-treated clones that make up most post-phylloxera Chardonnay vineyards. The Simi team took cuttings from some of the oldest and best Chardonnay vineyards in California choosing them for the diversity of flavors they would contribute to the wine. Golden straw colour and sandalwood and brown spice aromas, this wine has lemon and other citrus flavors that mingle with the essence of ripe red apple and well-integrated oak. Its pleasing mouthfeel gives way to a long, complex finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £290.28

Hartford Family Winery HARTFORD Zinfandel RussianRiverValley California
Description: Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's appreciation for the wines, the people and the unique vineyards near their RussianRiverValley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast. The fruit for the RussianRiverValley Zinfandel is a blend of old-vine, dry farmed and low yielding Zinfandel vineyards predominately from the RussianRiverValley. These old vineyards offer an impressive articulation of this idiosyncratic varietal. Zinfandel grown in the RussianRiverValley is distinctive due to this region’s cool maritime influence. Bright, natural acidity and vibrant fruit aromas and flavours are a result of typically cool fog-laden nights and warm days. These dry-farmed vineyards planted on low-fertility soils consistantly produce wines of exceptional density, and legendary extract. This old-vine Zinfandel provides alluring aromas of blackberry, sweet pipe tobacco, black pepper and anise complemented by flavours reminiscent of fresh baked blackberry pie with allspice, anise and caramel notes on the finish. Stunningly rich and concentrated, this RussianRiverValley Zinfandel has incredible definition of fruit and sweet luscious tannins. To preserve the exotic spice and sweet berry flavours, this wine was neither fined nor filtered. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £261.63
