The company believes that the role of specialist wineries lies in the production of premium wines from varieties best suited to specific regions. Emphasis is placed on individual fruit character and the development of a recognisable estate wine style. This blend of Cabernet sauvignon and merlot is sourced from the estate's Trinders Vineyard and three long-term growers within the Margaret River region. Great care is taken in the vineyard and this is reflected in the the winery where light crushing is followed by a warm fermentation before cooling down to 25 ï C for the completion of fermentation. Regular pumping over for colour, flavour and tannin extraction occurs during the vigorous phase of ferment, tapering off towards the end. The degree of tannin extraction is determined by taste to achieve a balanced level of tannin mouthfeel. Batches are treated individually with skin contact ranging from 4 to 28 days. Each batch is given a light pressing; the harder pressings are separated. Once dry, the wine is inoculated for malolactic fermentation which occurs in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is racked to 50:50 French and American oak barrels for 15 months. This has produced a final blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Lovely fruit driven wine. it is a deep crimson purple coloured wine. Showing intense aromas of aniseed, herb garden, plum with some cedar, it is a quite perfumed wine. Well poised the aromas are evident in the palate as the aniseed, plum and cedar flavours dominate this blend, while the fine slinky tannins have become leafy firm at the finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Rustenberg BRAMPTON OVR Stellenbosch RSA
Description: Brampton is a range of wines from Rustenberg that are more fruit driven in a new world style than the classic Rustenberg range. The Brampton name comes from Brampton Beacon Bloomer, the Jersey Bull, whose porgeny form part of the famous Jersey herd that roam the Rustenberg estate. During the last few years Rustenberg have transformed themselves from a distinguished producer on the local scene to a new era South African standard setter on the international stage. Continual vineyard improvements, a new winery, tasting and storage facility and one of the Cape's hottest young winemakers in Adi Badenhorst, are all driven by owner Simon Barlow's vision of 'absolute passion and total dedication to quality in both the vineyard and cellar'. This wine is a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot with a little 9% Shiraz. Here, all the batches of grapes were hand-picked and vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. After primary fermentation batches were transferred to small French oak for Malolactic fermentation. Regular rackings were carried out during the first year of maturation. Batches were blended for the final phase of maturation, using small French & American oak barrels. Upfront spice of cloves and nutmeg are complemented by ripe, red fruit aromatics where raspberries and strawberries dominate. The palate is well constructed in this medium bodied wine as the aromas follow through and integrate beautifully with subtle, dark chocolate and oak spice flavours. Available in Magnum bottles.
Kaapzicht STEYTLER VISION Stellenbosch RSA
Description: The 174 ha estate has mainly north facing slopes on fertile granite soil with an ideal climate for quality grapes. In the South African prestigious Veritas awards in 1999, Kaapzicht were awarded a double gold and two gold medals. Kaapzicht is situated up in the Bottelary Hills with magnificent views towards Table Mountain. The farm was first mentioned in 1712 and was purchased by the Steytier family in 1946. The ever modest, dedicated family team consists of Danie making the wine, his brother George the viticulturist and Danie's wife Yngvild responsible for sales and marketing. They all live on the farm with a menagerie of animals and an open house to friends and family. Success could not have come to nicer or more hard working people. This wine is a belnd of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Pinotage and 10% Merlot. The three grapes were vinified and aged in small French oak barrels separately. Next they were blended together after 17 months in French oak. Lively deep purple colour, this wine has a clean and reserved nose with good cassis, berries and a hint of chocolate. Ripe fruit, spice and layered oak create wonderful complexity. Full bodied, big bold wine with rich ripe vibrant fruit, the balance of the fruit and tannin is excellent.
