Chateau Haut Bailly Cru Classe Pessac-Leognan
Description: Chateau Haut-Bailly vineyard is on a single plot on the highest land in the commune of Leognan. The weather during the spring of 1998 was very wet followed by a hot, dry May. Mid flowering occurred on the 4th June, ten days ahead of normal. With Veraison, consistent with flowering, was quick and uniform allowing the harvest to strat on 23 September. However, the summer was very hot with no rain in July and August, although during early September the rain came once more. The Merlot was picked before the rain and the Cabernet Sauvignon remained healthy in spite of the rain. The Merlot was of a remarkable quality and produced a remarkable colour and richness of tannins. The wine has been put together with a lot of sophistication to produce a harmonious wine full of dense, ripe flavours of black fruits, superb tannins and a long fantastic finnish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £521.27

Domaine De Gournier Rouge Vin de Pays Cevennes
Description: During September 2002, the Nimes area of southern France was absolutely deluged with rain, and the region suffered one of the worst floods in decades. His house, the adjoining winery, and most of the contents of his cellar, were carried down river. Since December 2002, Maurice Barnouin, the passionate owner of Gournier, has committed himself to the reconstruction of his life at Gournier, and has re-built a beautiful winemaking facility to receive the excellent 2003 harvest. Now owning over 200 ha of vineyards between Uzes and Nimes, the modern vinification methods and controlled yields ensure the consistency and personality of the range. This is a solid, ripe and spicy red wine with good tannins. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £72.08
