In exceptional years Fonseca will make the decision to declare a classic vintage port. Only the finest wines, selected for their great intensity, depth and aging potential, are bottled under these vintage labels. On average this happens three times a decade. Renowned for their voluptuous rich fruit, mouthfilling density, tannic structure and grip, they are wines of breed, balance and great complexity. The Fonseca Guimaraens house style is one of richness and warmth, with a lush fruit intensity and a structure of both dimension and finesse. More voluptuous than massive, Fonseca Ports are coveted for their sumptuous yet refined body and great longevity. The backbone of Fonseca vintage ports are the wines drawn primarily from Fonseca's three quintas, all located in Cima Corgo: Quinta de Santo Antonio, Quinta do Cruzeiro and Quinta do Panascal. Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage-more like the breathtaking 1948. Devaux D de DEVAUX Brut VINTAGE Champagne
Description: Founded in 1846 by the brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, the Champagne House of Devaux was taken over by Madame Augusta Devaux, one of Champagne's great characters who ran the company with much energy and skill. The positive impact that she made on the company lead it to be renamed Maison Veuve Devaux when she died. Today the House of Veuve A. Devaux is located in the magnificent setting of Domaine de Villeneuve and is part of co-operative that has some 800 growers contributing to the blends, making it the largest Champagne house in the region. 100% Chardonnay this champagne underwent primary alcoholic fermentation ace in stainless steel maturation tanks. Following the second fermentation in bottle the wine was matured on its lees for at least five years before release. This 1998 vintage wine is very well-balanced and has the potential for further ageing thanks to its vivacity and elegance. The exceptional characteristics of the terroir are combined with Devaux's know-how in order to create one of the best cuvees of the Devaux range. A pale yellow coloured Champagne with fine mouse, the nose shows floral notes and some biscuity characters. On the palate the wine is lively and elegant with notes of hazelnut culminating in an enjoyable finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Chateau Le Boscq Cru Bourgeois Saint Estephe
Description: Chateau Le Bosq is one of the great classics in the St. Estephe appellation. It occupies the whole of a gritty hilltop, characteristic of the best parts of this appellation. The Chateau itself is a majestic building built at the end of the 18th century, with one of the facades facing the vines, and the other giving a magnificent view of the Gironde estuary. As early as the 1995 vintage, the Dourthe team, advised by Michel Rolland, undertook a great many changes. Harvesting is staggered and now done by hand with sorting operations. Old wooden vats have been replaced by stainless steel for vinification in separate batches, while the barrels have been entirely renewed for maturing. 1996 saw a great deal of further investment at the Chateau including the complete renovation of the vinification complex. A blend of 60% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7%Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, Château Le Boscq is a fine, distinctive terroir wine that elegantly combines the power of Saint Estephe with unusual suppleness. This deep purple coloured 1999 vintage wine has wonderful dark forrest fruit aromas. The palate is full of ripe fruit favours, well balanced with a nice tannic structure and long finish. (12 x 75 cl)
