Description:
This Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is brimming with fruit. It is deep coloured, plummy and concentrated on the nose and mouthfilling and swaggeringly robust on the palate. There is no attempt at elegance, a characteristic that eludes the Montepulciano grape, but only a successful attempt to capture the savage intensity of the grape. Willow Bridge BLACK DOG Shiraz Western Australia
Description: The wine is named the Black Dog because, according to the winemaker's son, the colour is as black as the inside of a dog. The fruit for this wine was harvested from the highest and stoniest part of the Ferguson Valley vineyard. Picked 10 days after the Estate Shiraz, the berries had attained great ripeness, colour and tannin structure. The wine was fermented in two separate tanks One had some wine run off for barrel fermentation, and in the other the wine was left on the skins for 4 weeks post-fermentation. The resultant wines were then run off to the finest oak barriques, mostly fine grained French and extra fine grained American oak. There were over 20 separate batches that were treated separately as the wine matured over 18 months. The resultant wine is deep in colour and rich, with round, ripe berry flavours and complex oak on the nose. The palate is huge and rich with loads of flavour, ripe tannins and a long, long finish. This is a big wine in all of its characteristics which somehow manages not to be over-extracted or broad.. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £182.26
