Dog Point Vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc NZ
Description: Pale green straw colour, with a lovely bouquet of tropical, ripe citrus fruits as well as hints of fresh herbs. The palate is rich and full bodied with juicy texture and fine acidic balance. Ideal with whites meats, seafood and oysters especially. The name Dog Point dates from the earliest European settlement of Marlborough and the introduction of sheep to the district. These were days of few fences, of boundary riders and boundary keeping dogs. Shepherds’ dogs sometimes became lost or wandered off and eventually bred into a marauding pack which attacked local flocks. Their home was a tussock and scrub covered hill, overlooking the Wairau Plains, designated by the early settlers as Dog Point. (12 x 75 cl)

Delta Vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc NZ
Description: Light, pale lemon yellow in colour, the Delta Sauvignon Blanc has tremendous intensity on the nose, with perfumes of passion fruit and blackcurrants. On the palate, it is clean and fresh, with good balance between elegant, ripe fruit, crisp minerally acidity and a long, perfumed finish. Sheena Gray, wife of winemaker Matt Thomson, bought this 10 hectare site in Marlborough’s Dillon’s Point in 2001. Matt is convinced that the slightly cooler nights in this sub-region produce wines with more aromatic qualities than other areas. Together with Malcolm Adams, a viticulturist with more than 20 years experience, Matt and Sheena have created one of Marlborough’s mosts outstanding vineyards for Sauvignon Blanc. The soils have a high mineral content and good drainage due to the sand lying beneath the soil’s surface. The wine is bottled under the Stelvin closure, so that it can be enjoyed free from cork taint and in perfect condition. (12 x 75 cl)

Seresin Estate Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough
Description: This wine is a blend of fruit from our vineyards with varying soil characteristics. Fruit sourced from the Estate vineyard on the upper terraces encompassed five parcels of varied Waimakiriri type soils of alluvial origin with free-draining basalt pebbles. This was supplemented by portions from the Tatou and Raupo vineyards, where the soils are a mixture of alluvial shingles with slightly higher clay contents. Indigenous yeasts and a selection of cultured yeasts were utilised for fermentation, for added complexity and texture. A small percentage of the blend was fermented in older French barriques to add depth, which when combined with regular batonnage, contributes a yeasty creaminess to fill the mid-palate. The indigenous yeast, barrel-fermentation, and extended lees contact are all used to contribute complexity, texture, and integration to this wine. (12 x 75 cl)

The 40-hectare Delta Vineyard site in Marlborough was bought in 2001 by four partners, amongst whom are winemaker Matt Thomson and UK based wine importer David Gleave MW. It was planted solely with Pinot Noir in 2002 and 2003 and produced its first vintage in 2004. The combination of low vigour clay soils and the best of the new Dijon clones gives us superb fruit, some of the best Pinot I've ever worked with in Marlborough, says Thomson. (6 x 75 cl)

Description: BRIEF TASTING NOTE Classic gooseberry and stone fruits with a juicy dry finish. WINE NOTES In its youth the wine is pale straw in colour with bright lime green hints. Aromas are reserved and very tightly focused in its youth in the bright gooseberry/ sweet herb/white peach spectrum and in 2003 for the first time some red capsicum. I expect these to evolve and become more punchy over the next year in a classic ripe Marlborough style. The palate shows very similar characters and flavours which in their youth are vivid and alive. The wine is tightly structured, with a distinctive bony feel that gives the palate length and persistence. Our most powerful expression of this classy wine, that will evolve over two to three years in the bottle. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: This vintage has created a unique expression of this vineyard, due to the long hang time on the vine. The grapes were hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, with the clear juice fermenting at very cool temperatures for more than four months. In its youth the wine shows aromas of lucerne hay, preserved lemon, ripe apple and complex mineral notes. The palate is rich and forward like but with a straw/apple/lemon zest character and a pure juicy mineral laden finish. Serious Riesling for serious Riesling lovers.

Winemaking The grapes were harvested in the cool of the evening and immediately pressed to retain the delicate fruit flavours and aromas. The j uice was cool fermented and then allowed to rest on the yeast lees for five months.
