Ruby red with a delicate, grapey, musky bouquet. The flavour is sweet, soft, lively with a fine perlage. The origin of Bersano dates back to the 1920s, when Giuseppe Bersano acquired land and vines from the Count Cremosina in the Asti Area. His son Arturo further developed the company and extended production to most of Piemonte’s classic DOCs of the Asti and Alba areas. Today Bersano are one of the region’s leading producers, the majority of their 3 million bottle production originating from their own vineyards. (6 x 75 cl)

Contero BRACHETTO d ACQUI DOCG Strevi
Description: This Brachetto d’Acqui is made from Brachetto, one of italy’s most interesting grape varieties. It can be made in a variety of styles, but Contero make theirs as a slightly sparkling red. Pale cherry in colour and reminiscent of wild strawberries and crushed rose petals, this wine is a delight. The flavour is sweet and aromatic, with violets, bitter cherries and red summer fruit on the palate, and a slightly dry finish. The 11 hectare estate is owned by the Marenco family who bought it in 2004. They are, as natives of Strevi, committed to upholding the quality ethos originally established by the Lombardini family. The vineyards, in the heart of Strevi, are situated in one of the best zones for Brachetto and Moscato in Piemonte. They are superbly tended, producing fruit of stunning quality, the character of which is retained in the bottle by the Marenco family. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £155.00

Araldica ALASIA Brachetto D'Acqui DOCG Piemonte
Description: A distinctive red wine: delicate, spritzy and sweet. Lightly perfumed nose with hints of rose flowers. Appealing, sweet and sour palate with some strawberry notes and nice acidity on the finish. The Brachetto varietal may have originated in Provence, but today it is grown in much larger quantities in Italy, in particular in Piemonte. The Brachetto vine is delicate, giving low yields from which sweet red wines with the colour and flavour of strawberries are produced. These south west facing vineyards are situated at altitudes of 250 and 400m above sea level. The vines have an average age of 20 years and are grown using the low Guyot trellis system. Planting density is 4000 to 4500 vines per hectare. Soil is limestone clay. The grapes are hand harvested toward the end of August. Grapes are pressed in modern pnuematic press and the must fermented in pressurised tank with CM yeast. Short maceration with skin contact for 4/5 days at very low temperature. Fined and filtered. The wine was racked every 4 to 5 months, and then fined with egg white to ensure there is no harsh tannin. After maturing in barrel for 12 (12 x 75 cl) Price: £71.84

Domaine Franck Millet Sancerre AC
Description: The charming Betty and Franck Millet own this 12 hectare domaine, centred around the village of Bué en Sancerre. The Sancerre vineyards are situated along the Loire River approximately two hours south of Paris. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are pressed as soon as they are picked. The juice is then allowed to settle, then the alcoholic fermentation begins. The 1998 vintage was the first vintage to see the use of temperature controlled fermentation at the domaine. The fermentation is now conducted between 14°C to 17°C. Low temperature fermentation means a longer fermentation is possible which allows a gentler extraction of primary fruit, which is preserved and defines the character of the wine. The wine has an intensely aromatic nose of leaves, herbs and minerals. It has fresh acidity and is dry and fruity with a flinty quality. Available in Half Bottles.
