Brokenwood McLaren Vale/Padthaway Shiraz South Australia
Description: The Shiraz from Brokenwood is a multi-regional blend. It has a very good depth of colour and youthful purple tints. There are dark chocolate and ripe cherry characters from the McLaren Vale fruit nicely complemented by a subtle mintiness that comes from the Padthaway fruit, and some red cherry tones derived from the Beechworth vineyard. There is a subtle oak flavour with a charry edge that is nicely balanced by ripe but fine tannins on the palate. (12 x 75 cl)

Brokenwood RAYNER VINEYARD Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Description: Brokenwood is one of Australia's most outstanding producers. Based in the Hunter, this property is justly renowned for the wines from their own Graveyard vineyard. The Shiraz in particular, is a stunning example of the classic Hunter style. Iain Riggs has, over the years, built upon this reputation with wines from other regions. The success of this policy was illustrated when the 1999 Rayner Vineyard Shiraz won not only the Rhone and Syrah-Grenache trophy at the 2001 International Wine Challenge Awards but also the Red Wine Trophy. Its combination of power and elegance is exemplifies the Brokenwood style as pioneered by Riggs and his winemaker, Peter James Charteris (6 x 75 cl)

Brokenwood RAYNER VINEYARD Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Description: Consistency best sums up this special vineyard. The initial feature is the dense black/dark red cherry colour. Maturation was in predominantly American oak and the distinctive vanillin lift compliments the ripe dark berry and mocha chocolate aromas of McLaren Vale Shiraz. A full bodied mouthfeel. Good viscosity and long flavours of plum, vanillin and charry notes. An excellent finish and although these wines can be consumed in their youth, they do develop into rich, chocolate/earth McLaren Vale mature reds. The palate has strong 'turkish delight' characters balanced by subtle oak and grape tannins. (6 x 75 cl)
