Bremerton RACY ROSE Shiraz Cabernet Langhorne Creek South Australia
Description: The Bremerton story began in 1985 when Craig and Mignonne Willson purchased the property and established a long term restoration and development plan. The winery was established in 1988 and now has 110 acres planted at Langhorne Creek and is joint owner and manager of another 180 acres from which it selects the best fruit each year for its wines. Best quality practices ensure best quality grapes and the Bremerton vineyards predominantly grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot, with small plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Chardonnay, Malbec and PetitVerdot. The winemaking team headed by family member and winemaker Rebecca Willson has taken the quality of the wines to new standards. Rebecca seeks the best possible fruit from the Bremerton Estate and other specialised Langhorne Creek vineyards to craft traditional, full bodied, full flavoured, mouth filling Langhorne Creek wines that show a consistency of style whilst encouraging the true varietal grape characteristics to be expressed. The winery has invested heavily in a premium French & Amercian oak program using 220 litre barriques to ensure subtle and complementary oak influences. The winery utilises tradtional open top fermenters, made from stainless steel and a purpose built barrel cellar for maturation. New laboratory and tasting facilities have also been added to the winery. The best parcels of Shiraz had some of their juice drained off when the extraction colour was perfect, the juice was then cooled, settled and racked. A yeast was chosen that would enhance the natural characters of the berry and the ferment was treated just like a delicate white. The wine was then stabilised, filtered and bottled. This is the third vintage of Racy Rose, produced from 100% estate grown fruit. The philosophy behind this rose is to produce a wine that is easy drinking. The colour is bright and vibrant with a nose that shows wonderfully lifted crushed strawberry and watermelon characteristics. As the name suggests the palate is vibrant and racy with sweet cherry while the finish is dryer than most rose's, flavorsome and refreshing. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £96.38

Wirra Wirra MRS WIGLEY Rose McLaren Vale South Australia
Description: Mrs Wigley was not the wife of Wirra Wirra founder, Bob Wigley, but a particular pussycat who was born at the neighbouring Petrucci residence. Within days her mum had dragged the litter to settle in our open fermenters, and from them on Mrs Wigley became a permanant feature of the cellars. Produced by running off the juice from the naturally highly coloured varieites Malbec, Grenache and PetitVerdot, Mrs Wigley was then fermented separately in stainless steel tanks to maintain the freshness and lifted fruit from these varieites. Lifted onfectionary and summer berry fruits. Malbec provides a generous aromatic lift of strawberries and cream whilst the Grenache gives dominant notes of raspberries and the PetitVerdot donates a vibrant freshness. Flavours of crushed strawberries and Cherry Ripe with a zesty mouth filling texture and a persistant finish helped by vibrant acid, providing a clean natural balance to the wine. The wine is designed to be drunk whilst young and fresh and this is aided by the Stelvin cap closure, which will maintain its youth and vibrancy. Serve slightly chilled with antipasto, light pasta or cheese or enjoy on its own (6 x 75 cl) Price: £70.50

Althaus STONEY VINEYARD ROSE Tasmania
Description: Peter and Ruth Althaus' 20ha property in the Coal River Valley in Southern Tasmania is truly remarkable in that the Cabernet, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc that it produces is not just high quality but is truly of world class. Here they are producing not only the 'Stoney Vineyard' but the 'Domaine A' range of wines. Peter Althaus was formerly a business man with IBM, working in Geneva. Having developed a palate for fine European wine and a curiosity for how he could set about making it, the Althaus' set about finding a vineyard site with potential to make outstanding wines. Virtually all of the European sites had already been identified so the search was extended to the Southern hemisphere. Peter long favoured the Central Otago region of New Zealand but eventually settled on the tiny 1 hectare property that today forms Domaine A. Since 1989, when they took over the Domaine, planting has increased to 20 hectares and includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, PetitVerdot and Sauvignon Blanc. Vines are densely planted and the sloping North/North East aspect coupled with a temperate maritime climate ensures that the grapes have a long, cool growing season (12 x 75 cl) Price: £150.32

Petra ZINGARI Toscano IGT
Description: Petra is located in the hills of Maremma in Tuscany and the 300 acre estate is controlled by the father and daughter team of Vittorio and Francesca Moretti. A Pleasant, fresh wine, ready to drink, it is the result of an experimental approach to the vineyard and to winemaking. The grapes used for Zingari wine come from vines at the foot of hills, where the soil is mainly clayey and sandy. The grapes, which are hand-picked in the second half of August, are put through a short maceration of 7-10 days maximum. Fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel tanks, and this is also where the complete malolactic fermentation takes place. Experimental vinification techniques have been used, such as using a French-designed experimental micro-oxygenation system. A ruby red coloured blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah and petitVerdot. This wine immediately opens up with floral and fruity notes on the nose that blend together over a pleasant vegetal background. A fragrant and clean taste of cherry, marasca and notes of dog rose are evident in this well balanced wine with an ebjoyable finish. The Zingari label comes from a pictorial interpretation of the spiral theme; its geometric structure, common in the plant kingdom, recalls the evolution of a force. It represents the repeated rhythms of life, the cyclic nature of evolution, a symbol of the earth's fecundity and fertility.
