Description: The Pinot Noir on the palate has rich cherry stone with delicate spices and ripe plum characters that emerge in the glass. Fine tannins run evenly across a full palate. A very low yielding vintage and a wonderfully warm early summer has delivered a dense, structured, deeply sumptuous, velvet-textured Pinot Noir with great density. This is a serious, cellar worthy Pinot. Ata Rangi is run by Clive Patton and his wife Phyll, Clive’s sister Alison and her winemaker husband Oliver Masters. They style themselves as the Ata Rangi Four, bound by a shared enthusiasm for Pinot Noir and a passion for quality. This passion is evident in their wines, in particular their Pinot Noir, which is consistently ranked as one of New Zealand’s best. The Ata Rangi vineyards are situated in Wairarapa, just south of Wellington. The grapes are planted on a thin layer of well-drained alluvial soil deposited on what was the original course of the river as it flowed east to the Pacific Ocean. (12 x 75 cl)
