Duck Pond Cellars Chardonnay Columbia Valley Washington State
Description: Founded in 1993, Duck Pond Cellars owns and operates 820 acres of vineyards in the valleys of northern Oregon and slopes of eastern Washington. Growing in these diverse climates allows Duck Pond Cellars to produce the best quality fruit for a wide selection of wines. Full of zesty and fruity flavours such as grapefruit and pineapple, this white wine reflects the warm sunny weather of the Columbia Valley. Showing a clean finish and bright acidity this pale coloured Chardonnay is a wine to enjoy. The grapes come from the Desert Wind Vineyard located in Eastern Washington on the Wahluke Slope. This site is considered a zone 3, the hottest in the Columbia Valley and the grapes are grown on the 480-acre vineyard in a southern facing block with a 2% down hill slope. The soil is very shallow and rocky and the vines are irrigated with an underground drip system. Double catch wires are used to increase air circulation during the growing season. Leaf pulling and cluster thinning are important steps in aiding the ripening of the grapes. . (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Sainte Michelle Merlot Columbia Valley Washington State
Description: Chateau Ste. Michelle is Washington state's oldest and most acclaimed winery it is located in historic grounds near Seattle. Here the winery combines Old World winemaking tradition with New World innovation. This wine comes from the Columbia Valley vineyards which lie in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains and receive just 6-8 inches of rainfall annually. Sandy soils with low fertility and low water-holding capacity enable precise control of vine growth. Warm, sunny days and cool evening temperatures create ideal conditions for intense aroma and flavour development in the ripening grapes. Additionally, a northerly latitude gives the Columbia Valley roughly two more hours of sunlight daily during the peak-growing season than California, increasing the region's ability to ripen fruit. The Grapes were destemmed, crushed and inoculated with Premier Cuvee yeast to initiate fermentation. Fermentation continued for 11 days with twice-daily pumpovers to gently extract colour and flavour and produce soft, supple tannins. The wine was then 100% barrel aged for 14 months in French and Hungarian oak. This wine is a blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. A real mouthful of bold, rich and concentrated flavours of blackberry, black currant, vanilla and chocolate. Smooth and polished, the tannins are supple and well integrated with bright fruit acidity, and the flavours extend into a long, complex finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Osoyoos Larose Okanagan Valley Red British Columbia Canada
Description: The Osoyoos Larose is deep in colour and fresh and scented on the nose. A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot, it is elegant, yet concentrated on the palate, with flavours of plum and cassis. It has weight and power but also style, elegance, complexity and great finesse. Osoyoos Larose is the result of a joint venture between Chateau Gruaud Larose and Vincor, the owners of Inniskillin. The vineyards are situated in the southern part of the Okanagan Valley, on the shores of Lake Osoyoos. The proximity to the lake mitigates the very warm temperatures in the near desert conditions of the Okanagan. The vineyards were first planted in 1999, since when the project has been overseen by Bordeaux-based viticulturalist Alain Sutre. In 2002, Bordeaux winemaker Pascal Madevon moved to British Columbia to become resident winemaker and viticulturalist at Osoyoos Larose. (6 x 75 cl)
