Sean Thackrey’s has a slightly ramshackle winery in cool Bolinas, just north of San Francisco. Something of an independently minded intellectual, he makes wines to please himself and hence the unconventional range of wines. Orion is made entirely from Syrah, produced from old vines in the Andrew Rossi Vineyard in St Helena. It’s a gorgeous, rich, highly extracted wine with pepper and cherries as well as a background of earth and smoke. Intense and vibrant with plum, raspberry and toasty oak this is a well made wine with a revealing finish. Limited Availability. (12 x 75 cl)

Sean Thackrey ANDROMEDA DEVIL'S GULCH RANCH Pinot Noir California
Description: Sean Thackrey’s has a slightly ramshackle winery in cool Bolinas, just north of San Francisco. Something of an independently minded intellectual, he makes wines to please himself and hence the unconventional range of wines. One of the oldest vineyards in Marin County is Devil's Gulch Vineyard, owned and farmed by Mark Pasternak. 'Marin is clearly cooler then Carneros or Santa Barbara, more like the Sonoma Coast around Freestone,' says Pasternak. He adds that 'because of these cool growing conditions Marin Pinots are more elegant, with more black fruit nuances.' Sean Thackrey is one of the producers that purchase Pinot Noir from Devil's Gulch vineyrad and he has produced a rich dense ruby coloured wine showing plum and blackberry aromas. In the mouth the plumy fruit flavours develop while french oak characters are evident in this well structured Pinot Noir that has a mouth coating finish. Limited Availability. (12 x 75 cl)

A deep red coloured Sangiovese with aromas of licorice and bold red fruit with cherry candy sweetness. The aromas develop onto the palate that is showing exceptional body and weight. Pleiades is made each vintage and the roman numerals reflect which version rather than year he produced the wine. The XV is a blend based around Grenache, Syrah and Zinfandel which is a little different every year and could be considered a kind of chef special while it is a wine that’s designed for drinking now. A purplish-ruby coloured wine showing a nose dominated by cloves and spice. Description: This Gevrey-Chambertin from Jean-Claude Boisset is made using fruit from old vines, primarily from two Premier Cru vineyards in Gevrey. Boisset used to buy wine from the grower who owns the Crepiot vineyard, but since Gregory's arrival they buy grapes instead. In addition, Gregory has worked closely with the grower to improve the quality of the fruit arriving at the winery. This quality shines through in the finished wine, which has lovely black cherry fruit giving way to a minerally yet luscious character on the palate. (6 x 75 cl)
